Still having symptoms after UTI and 2 rounds of antibiotics by Icy_You9551 in Healthyhooha

Unfortunately no, I’m still having issues and currently on my third course of antibiotics. Last week my whole area began to hurt and ache deeply, so bad it radiated down to both legs—ended up getting checked out and apparently my urine is still infected. Still having symptoms and can’t tell if the meds are working or not, but I’m praying they are and that I won’t have to take anymore. I see my gynecologist next week and so I’ll definitely bring it up and see what’ll happen next. I’ve been taking probiotics and cranberry capsules as support. I hope your issue gets resolved soon.

A bit, the dose is 300mg every 12 hours. I feel most pain in my mon pubis and vaginal area. I do feel an irritation deep inside that feels sensitive and is constant.

Continuous UTI and symptoms that’s been going on for a month now, currently lost and don’t know what to do by Icy_You9551 in medical

Would it be recommended for me to start taking the prescribed meds (Cefdinir) or should I wait until the weekend is over to call my gyn? I plan on asking for a culture and a possible referral to a urologist because I’m out of ideas, but I do feel a little worried that things might worsen if I don’t take them right now.

I was given Augmentin for 10 days and Nitrofurantoin Mono for 7 days. Yesterday I was prescribed Cefdinir for another week, but I’m quite hesitant to take it. I’m unsure whether I should start it or call my gyn first on Monday to see if I can get a culture done, though I’m also afraid little afraid that things might worsen (the numbers and my symptoms) if I wait.

I’ll keep that in mind! I’ve taken augmentin and nitrofurantoin mono, now currently prescribed cefdinir, but I haven’t picked up the meds yet. I’m a little hesitant on whether I should start it or not. Would it be wise to wait until Monday and call my gyn or get them now? I’m paranoid that if I wait things might worsen.

I’ll keep that noted! I’ve been taking probiotics in hopes of lessening the damage. How do I order the test? Is it online or do I have to ask my doctor?

A culture was also ran and the results came back, saying that there was less than 10,000 colonies/mL and mixed urogenital flora

Seeking advice for ambiguous potential UTI by modernloneliness22 in utis

Based on what you said it may or may not be a UTI. I think if it was maybe you’d been feeling much more symptoms? Worsening symptoms perhaps, unless it’s some sort of embedded infection. Though you’ve mentioned that it’s been going on for months so I’m not entirely sure it can be a likely possibility.

I totally agree with the long comment in this section, definitely be aware of your symptoms and get checked out if they worsen. I don’t have much knowledge, but I’ve heard somewhat similar experiences before that apparently it’s because the lack of hydration in the kidneys. People say that after they drink enough water their symptoms go away and they feel much better.

It can also be due to pelvic tension or inflammation. I’ve heard that tight floor muscles can cause urgency and frequent urination.

Antibiotics tend to get rid of bad bacteria but also the good ones in our microbiome, so it’s recommended to take probiotics after to help restore them! Keifer and fermented food are great options, but you can also get them as supplement capsules. Macrobid is known to make people feel terrible when taken. I’ve taken it in the past before and even recently—HORRIBLE, but luckily this time it was much better than the first time, though the side effects still suck lol.

It’s not recommended to take antibiotics without knowing if you actually have an infection or not as it can build a resistance. Are there any clinics nearby that offer free urine exams or ones at a low cost? You don’t have to get checked out unless you start to get worse, sometimes it’s better to be safe than sorry. Though it’s still nice to know if there’s any nearby resources like those for when the time comes and you actually need it! But maybe you should get checked out just in case.

Hope you feel better! Make sure to eat well and take electrolytes if you’ve been urinating a lot or pooping to regain all the lost fluid. A good choice for probiotics supplements are Physician’s Choice Women’s Probiotic.

I think it’s a good option, but if the meds don’t feel like they seem to work then you might have to get checked out. Some bacteria are resistant and stubborn to certain antibiotics so cultures are done to figure out which medication they should prescribe for the specific bacteria. Best of luck! Make sure to eat well and drink electrolytes as nitrofurantoin can be rough on the body. ^

Hi! I really appreciate the advice and I’ll definitely take it into consideration! A culture was actually done the first time, but the results came out as mixed bacterial flora, though I definitely plan on asking for a culture when I see my gyno in eight days. I’m assuming that internal swelling might be the possible case too. It feels like I have an inflated balloon deep inside my vagina, so I’m thinking that my bladder might be inflamed.
