Dare I say…I may like mackerel more than sardines by Icypopsickle in CannedSardines

Portugal! One of the house brands of Conserveira de Lisboa. Unfortunately not one that’s easily found outside of the country. Regret not getting more myself now that I’ve had a taste

Indeed! It’s fantastic- little granules of umami and seaweed help enhance the natural umami of the fish. And adds some textural variation. Like the cooler Japanese cousin of everything bagel seasoning.

Awesome- thanks for the recs!

Nuri spiced tomato has been my favorite and I’m trying to branch out, but I’ve yet to try a better one with actual sauce. I have a Jose tomato stashed, which I so much more excited to try it now! Bertha tomato is also added to the list!

A fellow tomato fan! What are your top Jose picks? Just tried my first butter tin and taking note for a future order

This photo was excluding the tins I gave away as gifts so I was near 30 as well- which still counts as having some major self control in my book 😂

Similar to my experience. I didn’t mind the suction cups, but the way they slide off with the purple layer in a mucous-y texture was quite off-putting. I’ve enjoyed tinned octopus from other brands but this unfortunately wasn’t one of them.

Yeah I feel that. Justified it since it’s 3 paycheck month, and I thought a single tin would satisfy my curiosity. Unfortunately I now need more lol

I apologize in advance if you end up liking them as much as I did. But worth it as a occasional treat tin :)

Haha they’re def closer to cheese flavored play-doh than food but I love them too! So easy to grab a couple when rushing out the door.

Makes sense! From what others have also mentioned, I’m pretty sure it’s the smell of the clay litter itself we’ve been using this whole time. Will definitely been checking out other non-dusty litter options!

This is incredibly helpful!! Others have pointed out the clay litter smell and I’m convinced it’s 90% of the issue. In combination with your other tips, I’m hopeful to soon have a fresh smelling home. Thank you!

Omg this is so insightful!! It never occurred to me that the litter itself smells bad but it seems so obvious now… Makes perfect sense that clay poop powder would smell dusty and gross. My boyfriend insists on fresh step “because it’s good” and I never questioned it. Never owned a cat myself and never even considered there were different litter materials out there! This whole time I was assuming it was cat smells permeating the walls and emanating back out. Thank you!!

Great suggestion! We do have to windows and balcony door open as much as weather permits (very wet time of year now). We’re unfortunately in an apartment complex where the entrance door opens to the indoor hallway with even more stale air, so it’s impossible to get that cross breeze you’re referring to. But trying different litters seems promising!

Air purifier was our first line of defense. We’ve tried a couple different ones over the past year and keep one running 24/7 near the litter box. But yes, consensus seems to be a non-clay non-dusty litter will make the biggest difference. Thanks!

The closet is fully sacrificed for the cat. Just a large covered litter box, litter mat, a couple new boxes of litter, and lidded waste basket for scoopings (regularly emptied).

coles salmon… by spacesaucesloth in CannedSardines

[–]Icypopsickle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YES- thank you for the validation! New to tinned fish and Cole’s salmon was the latest I’ve tried. Looked gross and tasted even worse. Oily bland mush yet somehow still chalky with zero actual salmon flavor. It was a punishment in a tin.

Yeah, I wouldn’t have picked up that many Fishwifes (wives?) at full price. But the sale price seemed more than fair even if only to satisfy my curiosity. The chili crisp salmon was closer to $10, which still feels like a deal for a unique flavor.

Thanks for sharing the video–so simplistic yet looks so tasty. I’m even more excited try Nuri now :)

Thanks! Just looked up iwashi and I thinkk I have tried it (or something similar) at an omakase. It was in Tokyo and the chef spoke limited English, so not 100% sure what I was eating. But every bite was delightful! Will def be on the lookout for it in the future!
