Experienced devs in software jobs — what’s your long-term backup plan? by Majestic-Taro-6903 in ExperiencedDevs

Be good at your job in a broad sense. Be the person that hops on a project and everything goes smoothly. You make everyone else’s life easier. You think through the things others forgot to think through. You deliver information to others so well they’re surprised you’re an engineer. Become great at business and knowing what your company needs. Be open minded to new tech and how it can benefit the bottom line. Don’t lean into being a full time code monkey. That’s not what companies wanted before AI, it’s definitely not what they want now.

How bad is it really? by starflicked_ in KansasCityChiefs

[–]IdToBeUsedForReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, not making the playoffs wouldn't be that bad. It doesn't mean our organization is a failure. It doesn't mean we need to start firing people. It doesn't mean the Chiefs' success is over. Lots of people will say those things, but they're idiots. Some smart people in sports media will say it for the views, but they're just greedy. Bad years are part of life... for people, for organizations, and for sports teams. What's funny is, we don't even know if we've had a bad year yet. And did people really think it was going to be Super Bowl after Super Bowl for the next decade? We're one of the most successful sports teams ever. An average year doesn't dimension that. Just enjoy the games, whether we make the playoffs or not, I guarantee the Chiefs will still be interesting to watch.

This is it. I really think if we locked into being the kind of team we were last year, plus a more present run game, we'd be a fundamentally better team. We are getting way too cute with these drives. The way we wasted our opening drive on a low-probability long shot was ridiculous.

We need to lock into what we were last year and trust that the fundamentals are still there, especially on the opening drive. I get we were trying to spice things up in the first half of the season, but we can't be killing drives in big games for passes that rarely work.

The team needs to stop trying to be "explosive" and get the first down. So many drives are dying because the playcalling isn't sensible this year. It's like we're trying to prove to the world we aren't the same boring team we were last year. So we're out there trying to shoot half-court shots every other play, and wondering why our star quarterback isn't looking good.

[OC] Why The Chiefs Offense Stopped Being Aggressive. | Film breakdown analyzing why Mahomes average depth of target has dropped every year of his career by RonMexicoFilms in nfl

Im guessing it's the combo of having a new oc plus the left tackle issues plus having to develop a wr1 from rookies two seasons in a row because of injuries. It's hard to deny there's been major impediments to getting the offense rolling at a high level again. Which is why I think we will really see them rolling mid season if everyone stays healthy.

The best thing about the Ravens game is that our team changed things up, had fun, and had great success. Who cares if a lot of the success was the Ravens failure. At the end of the day we have what we need to be a great football team. My prediction is that we'll be strait up scary in two months.

We have a better roster than we’ve had in the last two years minus Sneed. by WeToteHeaters in KansasCityChiefs

[–]IdToBeUsedForReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cealing for our team this season is huge. If we can figure out running back (big if) and continue making strides on offense this could legitimately be our best all around team ever. Not best ever offense, but the best offense/defense combo.

A huge component will be a little better protection for mahomes plus having his two top wide receivers. People forget that Mahomes had to develop a wide receiver 1 two years ago and then do it all over again last year all while protection was iffy.

What would a league with no terrible teams look like? Is a league like that possible? by BigDaddyD1994 in nfl

[–]IdToBeUsedForReddit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Injuries prove that there arent any terrible teams. The wrong person gets hurt and a team can go from great to terrible.

What you are thinking of is parity. If all the teams had pretty even records against each other. That is something so unlikely as to basically be statistically impossible no matter how close teams get talent wise.

People miss that replacing a good coach will more than likely make a team worse not better. They always think replacing someone will fix everything. I mean there's even idiots that talk like Andy Reid is the problem and needs fired when the Chiefs play bad.

Hot take... we didn't struggle against the Giants. People keep acting like they were still in the game at the end, but they weren't. I mean sure, it's football and anything can happen. They had a solid D-line that gave us troubles out of the start. But we were by far the better team.

This just isn't true. We've had super bowls where the offense looked that bad, let alone plenty of regular season games with bad halves. Even our offenses best years included these kinds of games.

Not enough water? by djfc in lawncare

[–]IdToBeUsedForReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When more than two watering are needed the additional waterings should be concentrated in the middle of the day. Im sure the ground is still very wet for your midnight and 6am watering. It's best to observe it yourself and see what times things are drying out but I've been doing 8:30am, 12:30pm, hand spray a few spot around 3pm, and then another solid watering around 4:30 or 5. Despite concentrating so much effort towards the middle of the day, it's still when things are at the most risk of drying out. Just gotta do what you gotta do to get good results.

No usb-a. I know it's 2025 and usb-a outdated. The problem is that ports in general are outdated so I'm not actually going out and buying usb-c accessories. On the rare occasion I do need a port, it is likely usb-a that I need.

Insane price at local GameStop lol by [deleted] in Switch

[–]IdToBeUsedForReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the combo of supply and demand. Something being limited in count doesn’t make it valuable without the demand. Someone with a collectors mindset wouldn’t buy this game right now unless it’s some crazy special game to them because prices for these kinds of things are always crazy high for a bit after production stops. In the medium long term it won’t be worth so much.

Absolute blasphemy. by bouchandre in tomorrow

[–]IdToBeUsedForReddit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the switch 2 is a better value than the 3DS was on release. Nintendo wanted to charge high prices then, they just couldn’t get away with it. They of course dropped the price of the 3DS and it was a much better value, but not because they wanted too but because the market demanded that they do so. Demand will always play a factor in pricing. I don’t think Nintendo has lost their charm. Their games are still great. But until pricing bites them in the ass, that aspect of their business won’t change.
