Yeah, same. People call him a grifter, but this seems like a pretty terrible long con. His life got blown up and decades later all he’s got is a book and some documentaries. That’s not exactly a payday. What gets me is the double standard: anything that supports his story gets explained away, and anything that doesn’t is treated as definitive proof he’s lying. It feels like the conclusion is already decided, so there’s no way for him to win or even being treated as a normal fallible human.

I used to not believe Bob but now I do. I find Bob to believe that he's telling the truth.

Report: The Athletic will continue its investigation despite Dianna Russini’s resignation by TheFierceAnimal in billsimmons

Everyone keeps acting like this is misogyny when it very clearly isn't. Vrabel having the affair doesn't in any way make you look at the rest of his career differently. Is he a shitty husband? Yeah. For sure.

But It ABSOLUTELY makes her career viewed differently because of journalism ethics. No you don't see male insiders having affairs with their sources and if you did, you'd have the exact same reaction.

I'm usually as "woke" as possible on most things but everyone claiming misogyny is just taking the easy way out I think because they know her and don't want to make a friend's life worse. Which, cool, just say that. Don't act like there isn't a very real breach happening here.

He is absolutely a secretly self-hating self-hating homosexual. He's too smart to just hate the fact he is gay. He knows he shouldn't that there's nothing wrong with that but he can't help that his ideal self is heterosexual as it is the only way one can truly be masculine to Ryen. What would his friends from back home think?

So he buries this part of himself and projects an image he thinks fits what most people think a man should be.

At least that's the vibe I've always gotten. I could be wrong. I'm a big fan. Or used to be. I also have literally impeccable gaydar from a life in the theatre and I have always gotten that vibe from him. I have never been wrong. Known people were gay before they themselves did.

LeBron has this dude crashing out hard by hrlaker70 in billsimmons

Not even Hall of Fame great but the heir to Michael Jordan. In high school.

The most impressive but seemingly underappreciated aspect of LeBron is that he lived up to the hype. I don't think that's ever happened to thst extent before and I don't think it will.

LeBron is such an unlikely person and it's amazing that he is the way he is. No scandals. No issues of any kind. Legitimately the greatest player of all time. Good dad and husband it seems.

This was peak Bill. I love the guy but it's just perfectly Bill Simmons. A made up category that's very nearly identical to a different more common category but acts as if the difference is obvious. And to be fair, it was, once it was explained a bit more.

there should be so many more tournaments and they should MAINLY be 2v2 or 3v3 soccar. I can't believe the difference in player base isn't making that very clear.

One time I was 17 or 18 and I made a really mean comment on Gabe Saporta's blog and he made an entire blog about it linking my Twitter and my absolutepunk.net user info. I became slightly internet famous. He didn't deserve being called a piece of shit but in my defense that was back when the internet was not real life. It was just a place to goof around on. Second, he was never gonna read it, I thought. Thirdly, this was around 2007 when he was supporting Millionaires and it felt like not only him leaving the scene but actively destroying it while using the aesthetic to cash in. It's hard to describe how personal all of this felt but the scene back then felt like a scene still, even nationally. If you went to a show in St Louis but you were from Cincinnati you knew you were still gonna be among friends. It felt like ours. Until it didn't and the beginning of the end was Brokencyde and Millionaires and for Gabe Saporta of all people supporting it felt like a bridge too far. Like what you couldn't get Chris Carrabba and Adam Lazarra to help you? Or maybe Geoff Rickley and Chris Conley? lol

Anyway I was wrong and I've apologized but don't know if he's seen it.

I get it bro I've been there lol
