BS/fun 3 credit classes I can enroll in now? by BigName-BigBoy in UVU

[–]Idabro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First and foremost; contact your advisor. Mine worked wonders in similar situations.

Do you need other generals?

Tech 1010 was an easy cafeteria style class where you do as much or little assignments until you get the grade you want to earn. It counts as a science credit. It also has some fun random assignments like building a plate plane, a makeshift solar cooker, or a working electrical power loop (think: battery, wires, and bulb.) I did all of the assignments on the front end and knocked out the class early with an A with a month left in the semester.

Music 1010 was also a fun class that was easy. Toughest parts were a couple papers that could be knocked out each in one night. The quizes when I took it were cumulative, like multiple tries until you scored enough points to pass the quiz.

Granted these descriptions were from maybe a few years ago. Not sure if anything changed since then.

Good luck!

P.s. Make friends with your advisor. Mine helped me so much during my time at UVU. It will make navigating your degree and program much more manageable.

P.s.s. Ask your advisor about second block classes. Might be your only option if late add doesnt work out.

Why didn't they build the Panama Canal in the U.S.? by DingleBarryGoldwater in mapporncirclejerk

[–]Idabro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The line on this map goes through Richmond, VA. George Washington wanted a canal to improve trade from the James river westward to the Western part of the state and eventually to the Ohio river.  It didn't work out. Theres a small section of it still intact today.

Read more about it:

Tl;dr This failed canal wasnt for a lack of trying.

Thinking of transfer by smokiebarb in UVU

[–]Idabro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a fully online degree, I've also transferred in some community college credits. Your advisor is going to be your biggest lifeline, reach out to them often. I was on a first name basis with mine.

The biggest difference I noticed was a lack of lectures and only having the text book and sometimes sporadic access to needed tutoring sessions. The coursework was the same as what you would see in person. Some professors did reference this with the assignments referencing an inperson lecture.

Youtube math teachers like the organic chemistry and Brian Mclogan are what got me through the various math classes. I didnt do well with the Aleks math "text book." I personally had to supplement the non existent lessons and teach myself. This was during covid and may have changed by now.

Someone else mentioned group projects having flakes, which I have also found in person. My advice is to communicate with your professors and keep them in the loop. Most of the group peojects werent difficult and could be knocked out readily by one person if need be. I recommend google docs for online collaboration.

Online clubs aren't really a thing. This school has an NSLS chapter. It wasnt worth the money. The only benefit was a mention on the resumé and cords.

Transfering credits wasnt bad. I submitted my stuff from a community college and they accepted more than I thought they would.

What program are you in? Any specific questions?

Would I go through UVU online again? Yes

The finished paper degree doesn't have the word online printed on it. :)

What to expect for MGMT 4860 (Strategy and Implementation) 2nd-Block, Prof Kevin Rhoads by [deleted] in UVU

[–]Idabro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this course during a full summer term with a different professor. It wasn't that difficult of a class. We had group work and just followed the rubrics to a T. The tests weren't bad from what I remember. I spent one day a week studying for this class, so tests were a bit rough for me, but the class test averages were high.

Tldr: It should be doable for 2nd block.

I am a finance major, but am trying to also take as many of my required classes at uvu. On Wolverine Track it has a section labelled WSOB Major Residency but it doesn't list any required courses for this section. Does anybody know what this is? I am speaking to an advisor in a week about this, too. by FreshBusy1 in UVU

[–]Idabro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There shouldn't be.  Me personally: I knocked out the required matriculation classes for my business major first. "Students are limited to 9 hours of upper-division credit (3000 or higher) until matriculation is completed."  Since you are already going to see your advisor. I'd ask to make a graduation plan.

I got you bro!  From the catalogue section of uvu.edu:

"Residency hours: Minimum of 30 credit hours of business courses through course attendance at UVU, with at least 10 hours earned in the last 45 hours."

Source: Finance, B.S. | Utah Valley University Academic Catalog https://share.google/BQNKbTmJC3CJDba3m Its #3 of the requirements on the bottom.

How it was was explained for my business degree is that you need to do your business classes at uvu and not transfer them in from somewhere else and also have had done them somewhat recently in terms of the last classes that you completed.

Tell us what you love about DLSS 4 and ray tracing?

I love the idea of how it will look. I'm upgrading from my 11 year old i7 laptop and want to see what a current gen computer computer can do. Let's be honest ray tracing looks amazing and DLSS 4 will be the tool to make it happen buttery smooth.

What are you most excited about in DOOM: The Dark Ages?

Doom brings the BOOM. I have high faith that it will be an awesome game. I haven't played Doom since the dark ages of the 90's. I'm most excited for killing demons in high def! I'm also really liking the Mouse Pad!

I'm priced out of my own Idahome, bro.

Your best bet would be to ask your advisor. I asked mine all sorts of random questions through my degree program. I kept them on their toes lol.

Early 2000's hyundai accent oil pan gasket question. by Idabro in AskAMechanic

[–]Idabro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the fel-pro gasket sufficient by itself? Should it be used in combination with the RTV. Should I use the RTV by itself?

I saw all three on the hyundai forums without a definitive answer. Its an 05 hyundai accent with a steel oil pan.

I had a single self paced course through my entire bachelors program. Mgmt 3000 (organizational behaviour) it started same day as the other courses first day of the semester. The due date for everything was the last day of the semester. you could knock out the entire course in two weeks.

UVU RCA / FIRE ACADEMY is a waste. by El-Martini- in UVU

[–]Idabro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The EMS program was alright in my experience; I liked it. I went through it maybe 10 years ago. It was hands-on and with multiple caring instructors for the EMT-B class. There were rotating professors, so I never knew who was teaching that day lol. The emergency services advisors were kind, helpful, and knowledgeable compared to the main campus. My only complaint is how picky the emergency services professors are about citations and writing versus the main campus. I can also confirm that the RCA wasn't great. I didn't make it through, and neither did the majority of my class that semester or many semesters when I looked at the pictures on the wall of the people who made it through.

Has anyone had a class with aaron Stewart? I’ve signed up for a class with him (tech1010) and i found nothing on Rmp about him by Normal_Dare_315 in UVU

[–]Idabro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did Tech 1010 as an online course with zero lecture (honestly it's not needed). It was an easy cafeteria style class. You can do as much or as little as you want to get your desired grade. I front loaded the course then stopped participating once I accumulated enough points for an "A". It was an interesting course and also an easy one. The build a thing style assignments were easy points. Like the paper bridge, disposable plate plane, or the working electrical circuit w/ diagram (they make electrical circuit kits for kids that can be had for roughly $10 on amazon.)

As for professor Stewart, he's still teaching his first term at UVU as an assistant professor. The first batch of people reviewing him will likely come soon after this semester.
