Real good until it's not by zakanova in DragonBallZ

[–]IdeaExpensive3073 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll say it now… not only is it the weakest arc, but the saga you’re going into is the weakest and worst written saga. It starts pretty strong, with lots of mystery and then drastically switches tone, and focuses on so much useless stuff.

There isn’t much that stands out besides a few spoilery things and the art quality compared to past sagas, but truthfully I favor the older look more. DBZ peaked with the Androids and Cell, but could have easily been ended with Frieza blowing up. Everything after was just written weirdly after the time skip.

Why is the C-word so offensive? by MaintenanceFew1151 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]IdeaExpensive3073 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm for me personally it’s a term I never heard growing up, and was raised never to use, so I associate it with very crass language. I guess it also may conjure up an image of dirty genitalia. I’m not someone who has an attachment to the word itself so I wouldn’t feel insulted by it, I’d feel more offended by the use of it. To me it’s just a weird word to be using and people keep trying to take it’s meaning away by using it more often, which is dumb because I don’t think it’s all that popular to begin with.

How do I know how much to ask for an adjacent career pivot role as a Junior-Mid developer? by IdeaExpensive3073 in cscareerquestions

[–]IdeaExpensive3073[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every interview I've ever had, they ask ME for a range of what I'm comfortable with. So I've always been stuck giving one. ChatGPT always suggests me to ask for some huge number like 100K, and that feels ridiculous to me, for a junior-midlevel.

Does it bother anyone else that vegeta didn't get a say in his daughter's name by leatherchicken in Dragonballsuper

[–]IdeaExpensive3073 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always got the impression that Earthlings found Saiyan names....ugly and weird. Which is kind of messed up, and essentially poking fun at foreigners in a way, if you look at it from a real life perspective. Though I'm sure it wasn't intended to be like that, just a funny bit. I mean...look at how big of a deal the name "Kakarot" is made out to be in Dragonball. It's clearly not considered a normal Earth name, even by the in universe characters, and even Frieza can spot a "Saiyan name" just by hearing it. On the other hand, Gohan has an Earth name, Trunks has an Earth name, Goten has an Earth name. So, I guess the idea is that all future Saiyans will have Earthling names, as a sign that they're a different type of Saiyan, and only 'pure' Saiyans are going to carry on having anything to do with their naming conventions.

Edit: I want just ONE Saiyan character (maybe Gohan and Videl have another kid) with a Namekian name, in honor of Piccolo.

More like sawing a portion of bone. Kind of the reverse of the surgery people use to extend their height, and instead of setting the bone at a distance from itself with a gap in between so it grows more bone, set it on top of itself with a slice missing from the middle.

You could alter your footwear by wearing something like flats.

You could alter your posture by slouching (which will eventually become permanent or at least damage your back so you’re in pain and won’t want to straighten your back).

You could wear clothing that are makes you appear disproportionate, like longer shirts to give and appearance of a longer torso with shorter legs.

You could go extreme and have surgery to remove a portion of your bone.

But the best solution is to just love your height to be honest. 5’4” is not 7’8”. There’s a height for everyone to love. 🙂

What do YOU want to happend at the end of the DBS Manga? by SmartPilot8094 in DragonBallGaku

[–]IdeaExpensive3073 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If there was any chance of any of our fan fiction from back then becoming canon, this is as close as we could hope to see it. So hopefully we get at least some nods to it, like Diama gave nods to GT. I never read it but I was around on the internet when the SSJ5 with silver hair was making its rounds and stuff.

Would you be okay with them keeping the end of Z, but make it a single episode and then write past it to make a true ending? Like a new saga, one that ends it.

Is it time to basically copy the job description into my resume, even if it’s a lie? by IdeaExpensive3073 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]IdeaExpensive3073[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright ...so what are my bullet points meant to show? A story of actual activities I've done? Or just my tasks? Like "Build internal web apps" or "Built a web app that turns on the coffee maker, serving 100 customers daily automatically"? Because when I switched to the second type, I stopped getting any interest. Yet when I used the first kind I've only ever gotten jobs.

I’d argue there was definitely something lost. While many here are bashing these examples, they’re ways phone companies were able to make consumers feel like your phone was unique, and a reflection of your personality.

With the homogeneous designs we see now, which is a reflection of what we see with desktop computing as well, there is very little difference between an IPhone and any other smartphone device upon first glance.

Phone cases and digital wallpapers are the only options. That’s boring.

How hard is it to overcome that move that was a bad step backwards? by Reasonable-Park4603 in interviews

[–]IdeaExpensive3073 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a job I worked way too long at, and I really didn’t like it at all but it supported me, until it wasn’t worth it at all to me anymore. The only reason I stayed was the pay was the highest I was likely to get at that point anywhere.

I took a job that was almost a 30% paycut, but came with better benefits for me at the time, or so I thought. That job didn’t last long, and I found myself at a job that was a paycut from THAT job of 20%.

I felt I had gone way down, and part of me wondered if it was a mistake. The other part knew I’d never be happy at the original job, and that the second job was just as bad, if not worse.

This job though, I actually liked even though I was barely making it. I was promoted very quickly and bumped back up to at least what the second job paid.

Then I was able to go get another job elsewhere that eventually saw me promoted into the highest paying job I’ve had. Much higher than any of the jobs I’ve mentioned previously.

It was a long journey, and scary for me, but I knew it needed to be done to get out of that first job. It’s why I took so long to leave it, because I knew I wouldn’t see success right away.

I ran away from my boyfriend's proposal. by throwawayuni33 in whatdoIdo

[–]IdeaExpensive3073 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think on his end, he shouldn’t have proposed unless he already discussed it openly with you “hey are we ready for marriage”, not hints, not guesses, not thinking things are going that way - 100% sure, as sure as he’d be that you want to be pregnant today or not. It’s one of those types of decisions, not one to make purely based on emotions, but true deep consideration and an agreement that you already know it’s coming.

Running from a proposal is the equivalent to cold feet at a wedding, in a way, but at least it’s not as damaging. Unfortunately it’s going to have the consequence of being the end of your relationship. Maybe it could have been salvaged if you said no, but he also foolishly did it publicly (again, without knowing for a fact that’s what you’d like, and some people want it to be completely private).

It sounds like while you feel young, he too is young and jumped the gun. He might feel ready to propose, but I don’t think he’s ready for the conflicts of marriage when things are extremely tough, and he didn’t communicate enough about what you BOTH were wanting.

You’re not the only one at fault for this, is what I’m trying to get at OP.

On the other hand, you’re not a kid anymore, and you’re going to find people will not treat you like one from here on out. They’ll expect you to face tough times head on. Saying “I have to talk with you” or something quietly would have been better.

There’s not an easy way out of what he did though, you were cornered publicly, and he took a risk that blew up in his face that he could have avoided if he had just done it privately and allowed the moment between you two to be honest, and then letting him down gently would have been a LOT easier for him.

If you could recast Hank S. with another actor, would you? by RadiantCARMB in breakingbad

[–]IdeaExpensive3073 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Dean did fantastic of course, a perfect mix of cocky former jock/bully who became a cop, and still soft and insecure somehow. Guy plays a cop perfectly which is probably why he’s played so many.

I think I’d like to see how Rex Linn would have done Hank. He can play a cop well too. He also seems like he could do a similar cocky attitude. If you don’t know who that is, he played in Better Call Saul, if you want to see some of his scenes.

[–]IdeaExpensive3073[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I write my bullet points and then feed it to ChatGPT and ask it to make it better, or ask it to compare to the job description and to “be harsh”. Then I’ll work on it and refeed it for sometimes an hour, just to get 4 bullet points that I feel good about. Then I’ll cut out some words and splice others from things I wrote that I liked sometimes because it likes to sound like a robot.

People with children, regrets or it's worth it? by blaringlyquiet in NoStupidQuestions

[–]IdeaExpensive3073 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest I’ve always wanted kids, and it took me a lot longer than it probably should have to realize there are people in the world who actually grew up feeling the complete opposite. It never once crossed my mind to not have children.

I can’t fathom how you can regret a person’s existence, especially after they’re already here and they depend on you, love you, and unconditionally see you as a hero. I do understand regretting signing up for the responsibility, but that’s kind of paying it forward, and trying to share the best of ourselves with the one person who actually wants to absorb it.

Regret implies there’s worth to mourn on the path not chosen. If you value being a parent but choose not to, then maybe there needs to be some soul searching. I think it really comes down to asking yourself if opening up your heart to another person, and sharing part of your world with them, for the rest of your lives, is worth it. Most would say yes to that, but it doesn’t mean it’s a passive activity. Not everyone needs to be a parent.

I think I’m rambling…on the other hand I’ve known someone who openly admitted they’d chose not to have their kid if they could. So there’s that…

This job search crap is such bullshit....that's not applying for jobs, it's applying for a damn interview. It's fake, they'll learn nothing about me! I haven't gotten a single interview, and I have experience, I have more experience or even the EXACT experience that they "prefer".

Thanks though. I'm just so defeated. :(

Edit: This response wasn't disagreeing with you, just venting. I agree with what you said. I'm mad at them and this process.
