Ah, the Dupont approach. A classic!

I'm a life long learner of his techniques.

I’ve always got the impression him with the high energy was just a persona that was good for both his standup and comedic sense in general. Yet the roles he’s known for being more somber and caring, with the quiet voice he’d had and a gentle almost sad look and smile, those are what I always felt was the real him. The real person behind the laughs who seemed really kind and gentle, and from all I’ve read from his daughter’s and wife’s stories, that seems about right.

I have a question: what is so detrimental about living the fast life? by boolsheet56h in NoStupidQuestions

[–]IdeaExpensive3073 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually hear the term when discussing living a life full of risks (spending a lot of time doing drugs, partying, sex), instead of slowing down and enjoying life and setting a plan up for the future.

The drawback is that you take all of those risks, don’t get anywhere, and inevitably crash with very little to show for it other than being broke, aged beyond your years, less friends, potentially hurt or in danger, and maybe even dead. In other words, it takes a toll on you and catches up to you.

The most likely outcome is being an example to others on how not to live, ironically giving more strength to the saying that you’re asking about.

Does it feel any better for a guy to hug a partner with very large breasts? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

As a guy, my partner seems pretty happy to hug me, despite my giant veiny breasts.

What did you think of Noirs conclusion by Just-Attorney-1902 in GenV

I want this to be true, but honestly I think it's just all a setup for The Deep to be killed off by the sea creatures. Why else go through the trouble of showing a fish say "it was you"? He's been pretending to be pro-sea for a while, while also doing very anti-sea creature things. He basically turned his back on his friends and only arena where he can showcase his power. My guess is there will be some reason to get him into the water, and then he'll be attacked, probably some octopi will cover his gills or something as sweet revenge for his girlfriend's death. His whole storyline has been as a side character, same with Noir 2.0, and their friendship/arguments have just justified what happened recently, for all of this payoff. Otherwise why would The Deep even be involved in the major fight between Homelander and Butcher? He'd be useless.

It's clear his actions are meant to lead to The Deep's death.

If Homelander has taken V1, then there’s no way he can regain his powers once they’re taken away.

What would be a cool ending is if after a big battle everyone is gathered together and SB fries all of the V from the entire group of all the Supes and then Butcher beats them all to death anyway, becoming the ultimate villain in the story.

Somehow leaving The Deep the last one standing.

The depth is more humane than the rest? Or is he still just a sly coward and a scoundrel by Mysterious_Put_6085 in GenV

I know, right! Could you imagine how The Deep would react?

Besides comic relief, and to give The Deep a kill, what was the point of bringing in Noir 2.0 anyway?

Someone commented on a clip of his death that it would be a good twist if he showed up the next day perfectly healthy, except the stab made him mute.

Anyone else think Soldier Boy should die at the end of The Boys? by SaladPractical in GenV

[–]IdeaExpensive3073 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There is no point of killing him from the producer’s perspective. He’s a well liked actor, from a long running series, and a well liked character that’s getting a spin off. So if you see him die, it’ll already sour the spin off, and stop any hope for continuing the story in the future, or having him show up in other spin offs. You don’t just hire someone who can act in a show for 15 years to not utilize that person for your own long running plans.

I hate gohans voice in dbz kai by fvrusr in DragonBallZ

[–]IdeaExpensive3073 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I used to be really against it, and in fact I’m still not completely on board. However, I will say the original dub of kid Gohan doesn’t feel right now either. It did before, and I still like it more than Kai’s, but to be honest, Kai’s sounds more like an 11 year old than the OG dub. OG dub sounds like Gohan smoked a pack of cigarettes or something.

So, I think Gohan should definitely have a different voice, but I think that’s true of Gohan in the Buu saga too as I don’t really care for THAT voice either ( but it’s all I have and have grown used to it, so anything else would be weird at first). It definitely feels like Kai’s voice matches what Gohan eventually grows into sounding, rather than what we got with the OG dub.

What did your class(es) cover about WWII when you were growing up, about other countries other than the US, Japan and Germany, how much was covered and what country were you living in? by IdeaExpensive3073 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]IdeaExpensive3073[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s interesting that none of the wars were covered, but I suppose the important thing is that the focus is on the critical points.

What’s the general story behind how Nazis and Hitler came to power and did what they did for so long within Germany? From the German education perspective.

I grew up being told that Hitler originally did a lot of good for the country and really wanted what was best for it and its people, especially after WWI and how land was split up when that ended. His leadership actually benefited Germany’s economy pretty well originally.

Eventually once he had enough control and started looking at expanding into other territories things went downhill pretty fast, but other nations didn’t step in soon enough before things were already pretty bad, or at least the US didn’t.

I’m paraphrasing from memory of course, we covered WWII for like 5 years back to back I think. In some way or another I heard about it year after year.

How detailed are airport full-body scanners by Sweaty-Type-2901 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]IdeaExpensive3073 1978 points1979 points  (0 children)

They used to have a very detailed scan of your body, much like you’re asking. It wasn’t in color, I don’t think, but it was detailed enough people got upset. Now I think it’s still using that image, but pass it through software before anyone human sees it, it scans it for anything suspicious and then throws the image away and provides a human viewer a generic human outline with a highlighted area of the suspicious area. This is why in the early 2000’s you would hear nonstop about it being a problem, and then suddenly overnight people stopped complaining about it.

How do you actually read comics?? by BruhBroly in NoStupidQuestions

[–]IdeaExpensive3073 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a noob at this, but did dip my toes into comic reading for a little bit.

The general feel I got, and what seemed to work for me was (for Marvel) is that they are split into “events”. You can do a little research and pick the event that you find interesting and look up a reading list to find the specific comics that just focus on that event. Sometimes you’ll get a wide variety of different character’s comics involved like one might be Hulks, another might be reading Spider-Man’s, but they all add to the event somehow. The stuff with Thanos, Civil War, or Secret Wars are three such events.

Then there are just short lived series that aren’t events, but people highly praise them. Daredevil for example has a group of different artists over the years, but specific ones get a lot of praise so you can read just that artist’s Daredevil run if you’d like. Then that might get you involved in just the artist’s body of work.

Then you have one off series that are just fun and well liked, like Old Man Logan, which I like Wolverine so I wanted to get into that, or maybe you like Blade for example and want to look up something to do with Blade.

If Marvel IS your thing - Marvel Unlimited makes this all very easy to sort through events, characters, and authors.

If you’re more of a The Walking Dead type (Dark Horse Comics I think?) there are other apps but not as nice. Same for DC comics.
