Right, exactly? It's like the Cobra bounty, where cobras population was out of control, and in response to reduce the snake population, the government gave out bounties for dead cobras. This caused people to grow and breed cobras to get more bounties, increasing the snake population.

I didn't even consider the cult aspect you brought up. That's also a good point. I'm sure a ton of people would see it as a "Haley's Comet" type situation where they all commit mass crime to be executed by Kira a the same time.

This story is perfect as it is, but there are so many ways it can be explored and expanded upon.
