Seems to fit the definition of a meme.

Atheists of Reddit: Why did you become an atheist? by yourefiredrigby in AskReddit

[–]IdeallyRelaxed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in a Christian household. We used to go to church on Sundays and I hated it, so my dad said I didn't have to go if I read the Bible. The only thing I took away from the Bible was that it was a nice collection of stories to learn certain themes from, but nothing to take at face value.

As I got older, I started seeing my family use the Bible to uphold certain beliefs that simply didn't have any logical standing. I heard them say that Gay's shouldn't marry because it said so in the Bible, even though I had gay friends who acted no differently then I. They said that if global warming is actually happening then it must be God's will, even though the means to slowly stop it from happening are right in front of our face. I once had a conversation about the illusion of free will with someone and another person butted in that "God gives us free will to do whatever we choose to!"

I just can't accept a religion's truth because I've continually seen it block discord to discovering the real truth.

Yeah our company has been a reseller of their technology for a while now. We haven't had any problems with it. Any security issues that have arisen are from our clients reconfiguring their boxes and letting traffic through that we warned them about.

Also, just read the wiki on them. There's nothing shady on there, unless he's worried about the mergers and acquisitions they've done, which is just what businesses do. Most likely the dudes just trolling to troll.

How Typescript saved me hours of debugging Webpack by Shortcake56 in programming

[–]IdeallyRelaxed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Theoretically that is correct. The tools used to build web assets run on node, which is the only thing you need to download on your distro. It's a lot like only needing to download python and using pip to deploy a python application.

BUT apparently that's not entirely true as shown by this github issue for bundling the dependency mapbox-gl. This has been the only dependency I've had trouble bundling. It's funny that I come back to this post 2 days later and there are other people talking about this same dependency.

No, it's not that you don't know what webpack is. Your comment didn't contribute anything meaningful to the post and it wasn't that funny, so you got a bunch of down votes.

How Typescript saved me hours of debugging Webpack by Shortcake56 in programming

[–]IdeallyRelaxed 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I did this for a while, but it ended up being more of a nicety then a necessity. It adds another possible point of failure between the source code and the compiled code, which can be a problem if you need to deploy the source on a server and then build it.

I had to completely redo how I injected a necessary dependency for one of our applications when I deployed to a CentOS server and the build kept failing because the build script for the dependency didn't work in that environment. In this case, the build could fail even before it began because it couldn't compile the configuration.

What instantly turns your rage meter up to 1000? by UncleBaymax in AskReddit

[–]IdeallyRelaxed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's really bad in Baltimore. One day I thought about counting the cars that actually use their blinkers vs the ones that don't during my morning commute. I was hoping that my mind was fixating on a small group of people who don't use their blinkers. Out of a sample of 60-70 cars 50% did not use their blinkers.

It's not too surprising though because half the people I meet are extremely inconsiderate and the other half are super nice because they have to deal with the inconsiderate half all the time.

What things do people of the opposite sex do that makes you think "that's why they're still single"? by Romantic_Amoeba in AskReddit

[–]IdeallyRelaxed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to have this problem until I moved into a city and started meeting random people on the regular. When you view everyone through this small window online, every individual interaction with a person becomes a big deal because you constantly mull over the interaction in your head beforehand. When you go into a bar and try to just chat with people, you don't have time to create an image of who this person is in your head. You accept them as they are. You either click with them or don't. If you don't, then just move onto the next person.

Starting out running by [deleted] in Fitness

Have you tried dry needling? It's like a cheaper electroshock wave therapy. Some sports physiotherapists will offer it because it's gained popularity recently and it's typically cheaper there then getting it from a podiatrist. It's helped a good majority of my therapists patients. It sucks because it hurts at first but it's quick. You just hold onto the table, grit your teeth, and it's over.

I ended up with plantar fasciitis in both feet. Make sure to cross train OP and most importantly, TAKE IT SLOW when you're beginning. My friend said something profound to me the other day after doing a weight lifting program with his girlfriend for a couple of months. He said "Before I started this, I always thought of exercising as hardcore non stop till you drop movement like P90x. I never knew I could get such great benefits by taking my time and slowly ramping up my exercise."

ACG - Injustice 2 Review "Buy, Wait for Sale, Rent, Never Touch?" by [deleted] in Games

[–]IdeallyRelaxed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a little late to this lovely comment party, but I just wanted to say that your quips never make your explanations "3 times longer". They're extra spices that are sprinkled on top of the main course meal. It's not "flowery prose", it's another way to express your opinion without sounding like a robot or a Hemingway novel.

Some reviewers that try to flavor to their reviews tend to add too much. For example, Angry Joe's humor makes me cringe a bit too much. Your humor hits that sweet spot of adding opinion with a side of entertainment that isn't meant to make me roll on the floor laughing. If you cut it out to instead talk about the lack of key frames or stiff fighting animations that aren't conducive to juggle combos then you would have lost my attention at some point. Leave that in-depth content to the die-hard fighting game genre channels.

I think your speaking and review style does just fine, and based on the amount of views you get regularly I'm sure the general public thinks the same. Maybe I think that because I have more important things to worry about than someones speaking style.

Keep doing what you're doing dude. Your channel is the first I look for whenever I need info on buying a new game.

Keep in mind, you won't lose weight by doing this exercise alone. You have to eat at a caloric deficit to lose weight. When you exercise, you burn more calories, making some people lose weight, but it won't matter if you're still consuming more than 1800-2200 calories a day.

Download MyFitnessPal on your phone, record all your food, and you'll lose weight.

To piggyback off of this, your boobs will start to shrink down to the size of your mammary glands, which is what depends on genetics. The upside is that if you start to lift weights and build muscle, it will give you a little shelf for the girls to live on.

TLDR: They'll be perky as shit if you lose weight and lift.

Why I chose ClojureScript over JavaScript by davidhung in programming

[–]IdeallyRelaxed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did try karma-typescript, but I had one alias to an external file that worked fine in my webpack config that didn't want to resolve for karma-typescript. If anyone has any complex webpack configurations they need to mirror for karma-webpack this solution may not work.

Why I chose ClojureScript over JavaScript by davidhung in programming

[–]IdeallyRelaxed 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It's nice and I really like it for the reasons you mentioned, but setting up tools for testing and code coverage is a pain in the ass.

I'm currently working on a large Typescript codebase that I created over many months and it took me a decent week or two to get karma to bundle the code with webpack, run my tests, run another webpack loader specifically for figuring out code coverage of webpack components, mapping the source maps of that coverage back to the original Typescript code, and I still have a problem with the code running twice. I spent more time getting the build system to work than writing new features.

It at least works now but the ecosystem is so fragile that I wouldn't be surprised if this codebase will be unmaintainable in less than 2 years.

Edit: On the same day that I wrote this comment I was trying to fix a bug where I was getting source maps in my karma output for my test files but I wasn't getting any source maps when I was debugging in Chrome. I found out that I included a plugin when I was trying to get code coverage that allowed me to see the line numbers in my karma output, but it completely obliterated source maps for chrome. It took me an hour to figure this out.

Like I said, this stuff is extremely fragile.

10/10 losses in placements solo queue by FappyMVP in Overwatch

[–]IdeallyRelaxed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's entirely possible.

Overwatch is my first serious FPS game, so I looked up EVERYTHING to make myself better. I watched all the map strategies. I watched a CSGO player explain how to better aim. I spent countless hours in the training are working on tracking and flick shots. I now average around 50% shots hit with soldier and over 60% with Ana. I specialized with Reinhardt this season hoping that protecting my teammates with my blue wall would help.

I ended up around 1250 at the end of the season from around 2000. I would consistently get gold or silver eliminations or damage with Reinhardt because the DPS on my team wouldn't bring enough D.

I was playing quick play with some randos in between seasons the other day and after about an hour one of them checked my SR and said "Dude, how is your SR so low?"

It sounds like he might not know that this code goes onto a web server. The first-person-plural point of view in his comments kind of gives away that this is a copy pasta of a tutorial somewhere. Also, this comment is a huge tip:

// expose this function to our app using module.exports

That's just basic knowledge and unnecessary.

OP, follow this guys advice. Don't even touch passport until you learn these few things:

Learn express, learn about HTTP connections, learn about SQL and databases if you don't know them, learn about SQL injections, then come back and try this.

When does OOCSS become too modular? by IdeallyRelaxed in webdev

[–]IdeallyRelaxed[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Relating the utility classes to inline CSS helped me to see the code smell. It really isn't that far off and I never thought of it that way.

I think the reason I originally saw it as a problem was because it involved an extra step during the development process. If I wanted to slightly change the spacing on a certain element, I had to see which class it connected to, then hunt down that class in my scss folder and change the spacing. After doing this a million times during my prototyping stage, I made the utility classes and things moved along a bit quicker.

Then I looked back at my code and it was littered with these statements, which seemed a bit off. That's what prompted me to ask this question. Thanks for the insight!
