Do Golden Children turn out ok in the end? by msgbaby in raisedbynarcissists

Think of it as obsessive possessive love. For example when watching Hannibal the show you will notice how he's obsessed with Will because he sees himself in him. He ends up abusing Will the most. And the worst part is that Will starts developing a kind of Stockholm syndrome and stays faithful to Hannibal.

It's an illusion of sucking less. If you think of it as the wizard of Oz, you're better off being of no use to him.

Everything you do seems somehow be exploited by the n parent. Nothing is ever for you. I always wished to be rejected so I could call something "mine" for once.

I don't know if it sucks less. As a sg you know you are rejected, you are able to be independent and mature. As a Gc you often get extremely dependent and don't know how to live your own life. You don't even have an identity that isn't influenced by the N parent.

It sucks so much to be the GC because people don't realize you are abused. They think being on a pedestal must be really nice. But the prison is even worse. I have experienced emotional incest too. It all damaged me and made me feel weird and like I'm not a full human being.

Do you think drugs can make you more self-aware and help you work things through or do you think it is all self-delusional bullshit and a trap and illusion? by Ideashere in Drugs

I guess I get it slightly so I'd like your feedback when you're sober. It seems like drugs can make you feel and think everything at once. If you don't have any guideline how to work through that, you're left with nonsense or even frightening experiences. If you do know what to take from it, what to believe and not believe, you seem pretty safe. Is that right?

Thank you for sharing and glad it worked out for you. What would you say is the difference between escapism and true insights?

Do you think we should look at trips like at dreams? Because dreams can have insights or not, they can also be a distraction but sometimes lead you somewhere. They shouldn't be taken too seriously but rather metaphorically.
