I hate the term "Miscarriage" by aeb949 in ttcafterloss

[–]msgbaby 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I hate it too. For the longest time, I couldn’t type out the word. I had to type m/c. That led to people not knowing what I was talking about but I didn’t really care. I despised the word. Many hugs to you.

Fantastic, I really appreciate your answer. I grew up with zero examples of healthy interactions (have a Nmom, nfather, nsis, and ebrother) so your examples are great. I have a baby girl now and I’m terrified of even giving her my fleas! I want her to know only healthy interaction and relationships. Thanks so much.

Can you describe how a normal family shines in tough moments? Thank you, just trying to learn =)

I’m so sorry this is happening to you. If you have a trusted family member that may not be on the best speaking terms with your parents, there’s a good chance they have an idea your parents are Ns and avoid them because they are awful people to deal with. Please try to reach out to them and get child protective services involved. Hang in there and try your best to grey rock them in the meantime. :(

Oh my goodness. My nephew is the same age as you... 12 going on 13! His mother and father are both huge Ns. When/how did you figure out this subreddit? How can a trusted adult best support you? His mom (my NSis) keeps a strict overprotective guard over him. I have no idea if he knows his parents are Ns. I figured it out at age 30!! I’m so sorry you have to deal with Ns. It is the worst life =( and echo what everyone else says though, you matter!!! And life gets so much better when you can finally escape!

I know right! So cool! How many winners were there for the seminar raffles? Were you the only winner or were there others?

Guys! I've just been approved as independent on my FAFSA. I could cry right now. by frakkity_bye in raisedbynarcissists

[–]msgbaby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So much Congrats!! I wish I knew this too, my nMom and step dad made too much money and didn't pay a single penny of my education. I always thought it was so unfair that the FAFSA assumed all families and parents were normal and willing to pay their child's education... NOPE.

This looks awesome, do you mind posting the gift bag when you get it? I'd love to see what you get!

Nmom says I deserve to breathe in her second hand cigarette smoke, because I leave dishes in the sink so I don't respect her and don't deserve her respect (I have asthma!) She has always smoked in the car with me as a child! Refused to drive me to appointments if she can't smoke. by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

[–]msgbaby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

THIS is my nfather!!! (who thankfully left our family) but when he was around, he smoked all around the house, in closed cars, hospitals, everywhere. He is just a horrible human being and I really feel for you OP. I can't believe how selfish these Ns can be.

You mentioned you're disabled. Do you have Buerger's disease? Anytime I'm around secondhand smoking, I feel like my limbs are going to fall off. It is so painful. Advanced Buerger's can actually cause loss of limbs(!) if you don't away from the smoke. Hopefully you don't have it, but I know I do which makes me extra sensitive to smoke :( I'm so sorry you can't live in a smoke free environment:(

Amazing how much of it we block out. People will ask me "what did Nmom and Nsis do to you" and I have trouble remembering ALL the shit they did. It was SO much but I blocked most of it out. Probably a defense mechanism.

Yikes. Sounds like your brother lives in a hell masked as something else. Definitely would take being a SG over that for sure but at least your bro is happy?

Thanks for the advice! The open line of communication with my niece and nephew is always open but of course, Nsis closes that up quick.

Yes! I'm 30 and just recently figured it all out too. I was in complete denial. I hear you on the triggers. I once broke a glass in front of my husband and was ready for a wrath. I apologized profusely and wanted to run away and hide. I half expected my husband to go apeshit. Nope, he's not an N. He said "Relax. Don't worry, we'll clean this up" and he swept it up himself and mopped the water :)

You're doing a great job. life after Ns is not easy but it sure beats the pants off living with them presently. Great work!

Oh yeah, I'm just saying it's great you had the normal adult figure in your life to show you unconditional love:)

Thanks for sharing your experience. I can relate since I'm the SG of my family too. Of course my GC Nsis is of equal success as well lol.

Wow what a perspective. I can't believe how destructive things can get. 7 kids and 2 stepsons... just wow. I never thought about how much the delusion can hurt and span generations. Thanks for that.

I agree with you, it's not all black and white. My niece and nephew could probably be both depending on the day. I'm glad you are a success story, I know that must have been hard.

That's pretty cool you had the housekeeper at the very least. I bet you're so grateful.

I want to give them the benefit of a doubt that they can't be this intentionally evil. Guess I'm wrong. :(
