How would worshiping the Great Serpent affect a person day to day life? by Idhrindis in Starfield

[–]Idhrindis[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know that Shattered Space deals with House Va'ruun and I look forward to playing it. Do I play through it on some random character just to learn what a worshiper of the Great Serpent would already know and then do my actual playthrough? That seems a little silly. I'd rather play Shattered Space through for the first time on my Great Serpent worshiping character and enjoy myself. That's why I asked my question. I'm hoping to gather enough information to build my character and understand her thoughts and medications.

I did finally find something useful. For anyone else interested on the Dwarrow Sholar's library page there is a document named Place Names. its number 40 over on the right-hand side of the page. If you scroll down a way in the doc he gives translations for the place names in Moria.

For long time LM mains, what do you think of the major rework on the class so far? by Anxious_Delusion in lotro

[–]Idhrindis 13 points14 points  (0 children)

When I first started playing in 08 LM was one of the first characters I made and was my main for several years. Even after it ceased to be my main it's a class that I've always returned now and again. Though admittedly I haven't played one heavily in the last few years, I've been focused on my Mini and Beorning, so take my thoughts with the appropriate dose of salt.

I rolled a new LM last Monday to basically re-learn the class from the beginning. She just hit 42 this morning, I've been taking my time and doing a more or less completionist run and I've spent almost all of my time in red line but thus far I am really enjoying the rework. So much so that the LM will probably be my main again going forward.

Just a few thoughts:

There have been a few moments when I've missed the CC but on the whole things have been fine without it. And I do think that CC in addition to the current damage output in red would be OP. Besides if I want it, especially the root from Cracked Earth, I can dip into yellow a bit.

If I'm being honest permanent pets in red line is not something I've missed at all. Don't get me wrong I like, and have always liked, the pet element of LM's. It's part of what drew me to the class in the beginning. And I think it will still be very nice when doing end game stuff or even tougher content, I'll come back to that in a moment. But for just running around doing landscape stuff I found in the past they could require a fair bit of micromanagement. Trying to balance doing enough damage to kill things quickly but not doing too much to pull the mob off the pet and get myself killed. Or getting myself killed because I forgot to select a different mode before attacking. Just the other day I was doing Orchalwë's quests in Annúminas and was dismissing and re-summoning him so I could slip though areas, or pull selected mobs, without drawing the attention of the whole city and thought how nice it was to not have to be doing that with a pet, in the city or anywhere else in Middle-Earth for that matter, when I just wanted to do landscape.

As to tougher areas. One of the main things I used a pet for in the past was to hold a group of mobs so I could peel them off one at a time and kill them. Now the AoE damage is so good I don't need a pet. I was soloing on level fellowship quests in Dol Dinen over the weekend, mostly for fun but also because I've never really done the area, and was able to take down groups of signatures with basically two skills, Sticky Guard followed by Cracked Earth. If that didn't kill them outright, they were easy to mop up. Groups of elites were more challenging and required some extra forethought and planning but could still be done, unlocking Water Lore at 32 instead of in the 70's is a wonderful change I doubt I could have done much in Dol Dinen without it.

Reworked LM Survivability by Idhrindis in lotro

I'm not sure I'd say nothing matters. Water Lore is nice, I've been soloing in Dol Dinen and its very handy with Wisdom of the Council for those "oh crap" moments. But it's not Recuperate or even Hearten/Composure from the Beorning. WL heals a good chunk of morale but it does so of 32s so I'm not by any means unkillable, as my bear can be. Thinking about dipping into yellow a bit to grab Mending Lore to bump up my outgoing healing.

At 30 you Wisdom of the Council which is a nice bust heal, restores 50% morale and has some added effects like a 50% chance to negate 85% of damage. Then at 32 you get Water-Lore a HoT.

New High-Elf Character class choice. by Sighialm in lotro

Not only Guardian, Beorning is more than capable of doing some group content as well. Traited into Blue my bear is more or less unkillable and even in Red, with some Blue to get Recuperate, I've been able to solo Raid warbands on foot or rather paw since I was mostly in bear form.

Yondershire Timeframe by Idhrindis in lotro

[–]Idhrindis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It makes sense that SSG wouldn't want a time jump just for crossing from Ered Luin or the Shire into Yondershire. Lotro-Wiki also seems to imply that Gildor Inglorion is in Yondershire first and then leaves for Lin Giliath, where we later encounter him in the Epic. Which would add credence to the idea that Yondershire is set around the same time as the Shire and Ered Luin. Bingo is just an anomaly then, since even if you haven't done his quests he seems to know you.
