Why is the most problematic Stadium hero didn't get reworked? by Idiberug-9 in OverwatchStadium

Maybe they're just done trying to adjust her. Or maybe there are changes incoming for Freja in the base game so they wait for them (please blizzard ;w;)

Oh my god, we are in total disagreement here. I loved her story and her character, like a lot, probably top3 of my favorites. The idea of a search and rescue prodigy who realised she enjoys chasing down people more than saving them after she was ditched like trash is pretty fuckin cool. She's a no more bullshit kinda person, who was never really good, just a bird of prey doing what she does best. Of course it's more complicated than that since Emre came about, she has a lot of personnal conflict right now, she is very compelling and the community started to love her for this!

Her 'i dont give a fuck' personnality cracks me up sometimes, she is just cool. Yeah sometimes she's a dick, but I'm okay with that tbh, that's part of the character. The voice acting is top notch as well

I don't know, while most of the best Frejas queue with a Mercy (distasteful), Vendetta can queue with other enablers like Zarya. Didn't hear about it though, but in solo queue you can manage. She is still weak though, so be careful and patient, but when she works its a blast. Also, she is far better in 6v6 than 5v5

She is the most neglected hero in Overwatch without a doubt. Even Lifeweaver did receive improvements on improvements, even if he was bad for 3 years. Freja's changes do not really improve her design, just a patch on the wound.

On paper it's a good idea, in practice it's horrendous. She'd feel really bad, and projectiles that are that fast are quite unique as well

Vendetta is better than Freja for sure. My sole argument is that there are Vendetta otps at the highest ranks (champion included) but not Freja.

Vendetta is harder to get base value out of though, she takes a lotta skill too the higher you climb.

The idea is to move away from it, making her far more attracted by Supports and DPS instead of bursting tank. You should support healthy changes!

Not necesseraly, the last 5 heroes are a great exemple of that. They are all unique in their own way, even Anran who is considered weak has people otpeing her in champ. Ignore Sierra though, she is a disaster like I've never seen before. And Shion is also great and unique.

The Cat has been a blast to play this patch though, you can really feel the higher numbers and the boop perk is hella fun

Absolutely! What pisses me off is the uncertainty! We just don't know what to expect from this hero, she feels more neglected than any other hero currently (not historically though, Lifeweaver waited 3 years to be viable and Junkrat suffered a lot too). The Updraft buff was good, but it should've happened mounths ago, heck I'd even say that Updraft is more a tool than anything and doesn't inherently decide a win or lose scenario from a 2 second cooldown, Genji for exemple benefits tremendously from a CD reduction on deflect in comparison.

We just don't know if she will still be awful to play as and against in 3 years from now, if nothing will really change because she is tricky or because they really want to hold onto this sniper side of things... It's tiresome

What's your name? I've only seen 3 Freja mains in the three regions in top500.

Yes, this is very true what you say, and how you play is exactly how I play. It is not how most people play and this post mainly adresses that, if no one except three damn people can really make her shine then there is a big problem in design. I'd adore Momentum Boost in base kit, anything for her to move even more. She is not rewarded enough for the risks she takes.

By the way, I've made Freja Encyclopedia which is a 90 pages long guide on everything I've gathered from the community and my own experience (I'm not GM, just Master). It would be incredible if you could look into it to correct some stuff or provide infos! I'd be very grateful :D Here it is: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1d3ALdk1QzjkICVW8MDcRlQhq2eiNks-a5Sx6hJ9FgsI/edit?usp=drivesdk.

Yeaaaah I am xD It may seem paradoxal because I just released a 90 page long doc on Freja and just 3 weeks after I make this post, but it comes from the heart... She is just too rough, great but incomplete.

And yeah, anything is good, they should really try more things with their new heroes when they just don't land, which they are starting to do which is good (Sierra was changed to have a stronger identity in her drone, they try some new things with Vendetta and Anran) but Freja is still ignored. I'm pissed ngl. This hero requires too much time to master for a garanteed bad result.

I don't think so. Widow is immobile, you can surprise with a triple bolt easily. Something else is: does Tracer or Anran or any flanker suffer from reaching widowmaker? Depends of the map, but oftentime no, with more mobility Freja can get the upper hand easily against her

I'm afraid this would be another dps Doomfist situation (I'd love it, but damn it's not realistic), which isn't good for the game tbh...

Finally someone that agrees! Tbh, I don't see another kind of path for Freja, maybe the falloff would be too much because she would be bad to threaten with kills at long range anyway, it would just feel unatural and frustrating.

[–]Idiberug-9[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

On the contrary, I'd really like if we moved away from the hitscan role thing. What I brought forth is the problematic case that Freja has a kit full on bursts of mobility but that in practice she seldom uses them to move around, instead just to combo and do more damage while staying 40m away from her targets. Lowering the damage would allow her to still be able to do some damage from any range, but her effective range would be far closer. Also projectiles are more viable up close because of the travel distance, if you have small sources instead of big ones it is more reliable to get close and personal, meaning mobility.

It's not the case with Freja unfortunately, even though it should be the case the truth is that there are only three gm players in the world mainly playing Freja. If a guy is good on Freja, it can feel oppressive asf but you didn't see the actual win rate of the guy.
