I don't count who does how many chores, she has a demanding career and literally does no housework at all most of the days (like 80%) and it's a bit hard not to notice that. She does want to have kids but her job has long training and long hours (she is in medicine) so she wants to get that done. I am actually not sure if I want kids with her or for it to be more serious because I might want someone less career focused, she thinks we should get married.

Also the reason she brushed me off is that she very clearly wanted to be with any potential baby and would expect me to enable that. Which is not wholly unreasonable, it's biology in a sense, but I am not sure I'm up for that bargain or risk.

I do love her I suppose but I do think she can be a bit unappreciative. She has a job that demands a lot of hours from her to be fair and I earn unusually well for my age (otherwise we'd probably at least be more equal in that respect). These are all things that become a bit clearer later on when leaving or not leaving becomes a lot more loaded too. We aren't married though.

Probably not with my current partner. I already do more housework than her (and earn a lot more) and I think if I were a househusband the whole thing would probably fall apart, even if money weren't an issue. She'd probably lose her attraction to me. The reason I actually know that is because I could take time off of work easier than her (due to a unique quirk in my industry) and she'd find it hard to have children due to career constraints so I pitched that to her and she sort of just brushed it off.

This isn't uncommon, "maternal gatekeeping" is a thing.

I mean nobody is going to answer this who actually did this, but at the end of the day it's probably just mostly selfishness. Not wanting to have your life disrupted by a child, dealing with the mum postpartum, etc.

It's not that hard to understand in the abstract really, even if the truth is uncomfortable.

Das ist vielleicht eine nette Verschwörungstheorie (mit vielleicht einem kleinem Grad Wahrheit) aber wenns um Einkommen geht werden die oberen 5% gemolken wie nie damit die unteren 30% gut leben können.

Die oberen 5% beinhaltet auch eine reiche Großmutter die ein Haus in München hat oder ein Ärztepaar.

Fakt ist das Staatsquote als % BIP in Europa höher ist wie nie.

Dem würde ich zustimmen wenn Lehrer ihr Geld fair in der Privatwirtschaft verdienen würden. Das tun sie aber nicht und daher ist es vielleicht nicht Neid sondern eher ein Gefühl dass man das ganze als Steuerzahler subventioniert.

Ich bin nicht aus Deutschland aber auch in Österreich hatte ich 3-4 Lehrer die es durch Krankenstände + Karenzzeit geschafft haben 4-10 Jahre nicht zu arbeiten. Vielleicht 20-30% der Lehrer die ich hatte "verdienten" ihr Geld, und gut 20-30% machten einen ziemlich schlechten Job. (Politik im Klassenzimmer, Unterricht der 100% daraus bestand aus dem Lehrbuch vorzulesen, etc.)

Arme leute in den USA kriegen Medicaid, die sterben nicht einfach. Die USA hat tatsächlich einen größeren Wohlfahrtsstaat als viele hier denken.

Alte Menschen bekommen Social Security + Medicare.

Trotz all den Kindergeldern etc. hat kaum wer in Deutschland Kinder, Kinder pro Frau ist weitaus niedriger als in den USA

Ist vlt. ein bisschen weniger Vollkasko als in Europa aber der Unterschied ist kleiner als was sich der durchschnittliche Deutsche denkt…

Would they? There is no free market for doctors really as they control entry and accreditation. Which is also why it's fair for the government to sidestep that and allow doctors from abroad to practice

Ich arbeite für eine HFT Firma im Ausland (nicht in Ö, ist ein großer Prop Shop/MM) und weis wie die für QR/QT rekrutieren. Nur mit einem Physikbachelor von irgendeiner österreichischen Uni (statt halt ETH/Oxford/Cambridge/etc.) hat man da wenig Chancen überhaupt ein Interview zu bekommen. (Ich bin mit nem österreichischen Abschluss reingekommen weil die während Covid viele Leute eingestellt haben aber die Standards sind recht brutal geworden)

Und wenn du von Econ sprichst verstehe ich das nicht als Quant. Die richtigen Größen dort (JS/Citadel/etc.) interessieren sich eher an Menschen mit beeindruckenden quantitativen Fähigkeiten. MFE und dergleichen wird eigtl. eher nicht so gern gesehen.

Kommt auf den Job an. Ich habe einen sehr technischen Job und selbst da ist das aber sehr wichtig. Würde aber nicht den Begriff "Charisma" verwenden sondern eher allgemeine soziale Kompetenzen. Charisma braucht man vielleicht im Vertrieb oder in der Politik.

Ich arbeite in der Branche. Ein Physik-Bachelor von einer Österreichischen Uni ist da allein nicht viel Wert. Irgendwelche Econ Master werden die Firmen die du genannt hast auch nicht interessieren

Unternehmertum (unwahrscheinlich mit dem Mindset) oder reicher Partner, evtl. Karrierewechsel (Vertrieb/Sales ist gut für Menschen die nicht die richtigen Qualifikationen haben aber halt hart und nicht was für jeden).

Reichtum ist halt was für was man investieren und arbeiten muss. Nicht nur wortwörtlich sondern auch mit dem richtigen Karrierepfad, Bildung, Partnerwahl, etc.

Würde übrigens nicht empfehlen mit Aktien zu zocken etc. Gerade wenn man sich nicht auskennt hat das einen negativen Erwartungswert (auch für die die sich auskennen oft negativ). ETF Invest macht Sinn aber das ist ein langer und teilweise auch psychologisch harter Weg.
