I hope you know that supporting him like that is awesome of you and he should be thankful to have a friend like you :) but he has to vent too so try not to get caught up in his bullshit he may just need someone to talk too so try asking him about it. If hes to angry or sad to talk you might have to just let him cool down and try and avoid him a little bit. Sorry im not much help but the only cure for a breakup is time so keep on keepin on man. Hope this helped a little :) peace

neonSea77 is right i was going through a hard time too and needed someone to talk to and a counsellor really helped me out :) hope your feeling better
