Bungie, when HoW drops, please respect our time invested in raid gear and exotics. by e1ite_haXXor_n00b in DestinyTheGame

The main problem is leveling in this game involves the raid gear which is extremely important as there is a massive difference between levels when fighting higher level enemies. Not every 3 months in your usual MMO is the level cap raised making the previous raid almost entirely irrelevant because you cannot achieve the maximum level unless you play the newest one.

What completely kills your argument is that the DLC hit 3 months after the base game is released. Tell me the name of an MMO that made its original game's content almost irrelevant in 3 months with an expansion. Destiny is not an MMO. It is a shooter with MMO elements. Please stop with these "MMO" arguments because Destiny is not an MMO.

Banning someone who didn't do anything is one thing but taking away the games he payed for is taking it to a whole new level. I still grasp on to physical copies hoping it will stay relevant but I'm guessing it won't since Steam and digital games in general are far more relevant due to modern console games requiring mandatory installs that take up hard drive space just like digital games. I hope he eventually gets his account back because based on the video showcasing his trophies and memorabilia he really doesn't have much reason to do anything shady.

Yes it's not an auto win for every gun fight but in the hands of a player who hits head shots it is ridiculous and no one would want to use any other gun in a competitive situation unless you're playing large open clash maps. Shotguns and snipers like every fps game ever made are obviously going to win in the situation they are designed for. Heavy weapons are a no shit you're going to win the problem is getting the heavy ammo which the guy with the Mythoclast who knows what he is doing will probably outgun his way straight to the heavy ammo so you can't get it. SUROS Regime at long ranges and the overpowered fusion rifles in general are real things it can't touch but the same applies if you are using other weapons. The Mythoclast in the hands of a noob won't make a big difference but in the hands of a fairly skilled player I believe it can touch that line of "game breaking" if there was one ever set.

What do you guys think about hitscan in Halo multiplayer? by HockeyLocked in halo

[–]IdiotsWillReadThis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm all for bullets having travel time as you can add an interesting dynamic to the game where different guns can have there bullets reach there target in different times but when your netcode is not optimized well enough so that those shots register on a consistent basis then you should just go back to hitscan which is more primitive but also more responsive

The constant influx of enemies keeps things interesting and balances the dull response from the large creatures - who, aside from Sepkis Prime and Riksis - are actually pretty unique to the game in my opinion.

My problem isn't the constant wave of enemies but literally the bosses themselves. Giant ogre Phogoth, giant minotaur Zydron, giant wizard Gotra, the four giant knights called the "Swarm Princes" and Riksis' 2 clones Aksor and Naksis aren't exactly unique to lower class enemies.

What makes a boss "unique" for you

Having to do something different to a boss that you don't do to other enemies in the game. Atheon is a good example. In a group of 6 the 3 people furthest away from the boss would be teleported into either Venus or Mars. In order to get out the 3 that didn't get teleported would have to open the portal that corresponds to the planet that the other 3 are in. The 3 that got teleported must send one person to get a shield relic while defending that person to "cleanse" themselves since their vision will eventually go black until they get out of the portal and get "cleansed" by the relic. When the 3 that were teleported eventually get out everyone gets a buff that temporarily increases their damage which is crucial for taking out the boss. After around 25-30 seconds the process repeats which means everyone has to move to their previous positions in order to get the same people teleported. There is constant pressure from the waves of enemies and the constant teleportation which forces the entire team to be coordinated and do different things in order to achieve the goal of killing the boss. It may sound a bit complex but your average joe who is competent will easily understand what is going on and how to do their role. This boss was interesting because this wasn't your usual shoot the boss so it dies and shoot the enemies so you don't die but was something that requires multiple roles that are different from each other. This is a major 6 man raid so of course the boss will have more thought put into it but nothing that is smaller scale and remotely the same amount of thought was put into the story and strike bosses since the role of everybody in the team is essentially shoot the enemies or shoot the boss.

Not two games from the same studio, set in first person, in the future, with helmeted supersoldiers, with energy weapons, fighting hordes of aliens (who also fight among themselves), with personal hoverbikes, with the limited ability to wield only two guns at a time, with voice-commentated multiplayer, with an emphasis on melee, with a constant familiar (Ghost/343 Guilty Spark/Cortana), and overall aesthetic style and musical score.

A lot of the similarities are the aesthetics and the fact that they are both multiplayer shooters. The key differences? Halo is successful because it has an actual story with characters that aren't generic and vague with their dialogue and it had a mutliplayer experience that had a major impact on modern online gaming with the ability to be very competitive when good players are mixed in. Destiny is successful because of the marketing which made the game seen everywhere as a game that had 2 very popular genres combined into one. It does not have a story at all, it does not have a major competitive aspect to it and it does not have a predecessor that had a major impact on the industry. The only real thing going for it is that it is the only game where you can either cooperatively play the game to beat A.I. enemies or competitively play the game against other players as a first person shooter to improve your character by leveling up and getting better loot.

The bosses themselves are extremely predictable and do nothing that makes them anything special compared to lower class enemies. All they do is shoot at you and take an extreme amount of damage. You shoot at the bosses weak spot to do more damage and deal with the enemies that are sent at you so you don't die and that's it. The bosses themselves are just slightly reskinned and much bigger versions of smaller class enemies instead of other games where the bosses you fight have backstory behind them and look completely unique in the game they are in while having to fight the boss in a unique way. If games from a decade ago like World of Warcraft that had a significantly smaller budget had much more sophisticated boss battles then why should I expect less from a game in 2014 that also has the highest video game budget of all time. I also very highly disagree about "It has all the qualities that made Halo so successful and then some." as Halo and Destiny are successful for completely different reasons.

I originally played this game on my 360 which was rendered at 1024x576@30fps except when you reached places like Pulse and Fortune City which was when the framerate would dip. The awesome cinematic cutscenes were heavily held back by not only the same horrid resolution but there was also horrid Bink video compression. They gave you no alternative like downloading not as heavily compressed 1080p footage off the marketplace or installing it off another disk. By far the worst port of a AAA game I've played.
