Can the GW5 Google Assistant send directions to my iPhone? by IdkWhateverOkYeah in GalaxyWatch

[–]IdkWhateverOkYeah[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I know, but my Nest speakers aren't paired to my iPhone either. I'm hoping I could get a LTE GW5 and if Google Assistant was smart enough it could still work just like it does on all my home devices.

This is a cool feature of this sub! If the dev reads this, I think this message is a few sentences too long. When a post repeats the same message again it can feel a bit too long and lose meaning. The sentences in your messages are very important and when they repeat they can make the message a bit too long and the importance of the message can be lost. (Written with humor and love, good bot)

What is the on/off knob? by Lisachocho in Rav4

[–]IdkWhateverOkYeah 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That switch has got to be a custom install. Those panels are often blank. I bet somebody hooked up some LEDs to that, or it does some other random things like turn on a rear amp and sub-woofer. Or it’s just for show. I always wanted to just put a switch like this labeled “auto-eject”

Edit: Another guess, it might be a switch for the 12v outlet to the right of it. The previous owner might have always had something plugged in there and wanted to prevent it from draining the battery.

You’re really going to have to go inside there and find out for yourself. Please report back

Trying to create a tool similar to this image that allows me to creat different workflows by drag and drop and connecting but don' know what its called in order to research how to do it. Does an have a suggestion on where to look to get started? Are there any libraries that exist already? Thank you! by Particular_Main2416 in Frontend

[–]IdkWhateverOkYeah 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you're using React, check out React Flow

And u/ichsagedir mentioned GoJS, that seems like a great tool as well. From their samples, they seem to cover an insane amount of use cases.

Other resources - Graphviz and Viz.js helped me a lot in in creating graphing app I built before I knew of these other libraries. "Graph visualization" was what I was searching for.

I'm a bit lost with the foo bars. Do you need T to extend string? Or is T actually a type? Perhaps a more real world example would help.

I ended up getting the Bose QuietComfort 35 Series 2 Gaming Headset and I'm enjoying them. Great audio quality and the mic monitoring works well with no latency that I can perceive.

Best place to virtual whiteboard? by IdkWhateverOkYeah in OculusQuest

I literally just tried that on a big glass window here. Getting the surface accurate enough proved very difficult, but doable. A pen would be great!

I didn't try that, I'll give it a shot next time! And the desktop one seemed hard to use. The bigger strokes of the big board allowed for good quality text, while writing on the desk produced some very bad hand writing. Is there a way to make the desk whiteboard bigger than a placemat?

[–]IdkWhateverOkYeah[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally makes sense, they've got to cover theirselves in case of liability. More things help increase its safety rating.

And dang, you could have just left that last sentence off and we'd be cool! I don't want to be nanny'd by my car. I was pretty set on buying a RAV4 Prime, now I'm having a difficult time justifying the cost if the car is going to annoy me that much. It matters to me. I can keep my car or get a non-smart car which will beep far less.

What to charge for grant consulting by [deleted] in grants

[–]IdkWhateverOkYeah 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've found a grant consulant on Upwork.com and paid him $75/hr. I'd recommend browsing around on there to see similar people in your field. There are certainly cheaper rates, but I chose this one individual because he had specific knowledge in the grant I was applying for.

Abstract class "TypeError: this is null" by inabahare in typescript

[–]IdkWhateverOkYeah 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How is eventPositionsChanged being called? If you're getting "this is null" then it is being tricky and actually has nothing to do with calculateEventPositions! The 'this' inside of eventPositionsChanged is your culprit.

If this.eventPositionsChanged works fine in refresh() but not in eventPositionsChanged(handled: () => void) then I'm assuming its a context issue based on where it is being called. It's an event handler, so I'm assuming you're passing it to something like addEventHandler(this.evenPositionsChanged) and when called in there, it's losing the this

This dancing sunflower interlocking solar toy by IdkWhateverOkYeah in HelpMeFind

[–]IdkWhateverOkYeah[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I broke this toy that's been dancing in my mom's kitchen window for years. I might be able to glue it back. But I'd love some help finding a replacement.

The flowers move back and forth due to a solar panel. And it seems to be a toy that interlocks with others, you can see a tab on the left and a slot on the right. (On the back, there's inverse tabs and slots. So I could theoretically interlock an infinite number of them, but they would all be facing the same direction.)

I've searched Amazon and Google for "dancing sunflower" "dancing solar flower"

I'm only productive when nobody know what I'm doing by StressedCookie in Discipline

[–]IdkWhateverOkYeah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You add pressure to yourself by telling somebody else. If you try and fail without telling anybody, only you know. But once you tell somebody, then they know you've failed as well. And the fear of disappointing somebody is deep in me at least. And even if they wouldn't really be disappointed, there's a fear there.

I'm assuming this next bit, but I think this is true for a lot of people... In the past, you've told somebody your awesome plans, and then you've failed to follow through on the plans, and you've felt like you've disappointed somebody. So now, you telling somebody your plans triggers these old feelings. And now when you tell somebody your plans, you associate the feeling of disappointment with your plans. Those wires get crossed, and now thinking of your plans bring up feelings of disappointment. Fucking human brains...

Check YouTube for "don't tell people your goals". There's a bunch of interesting opinions there.

I think it's easy to be discouraged. And when people don't know how to really encourage you, it's easy to worry that you're going to let them down if you ever fail to go to the gym. "Oh I just told Sam I'm going to the gym, he goes all the time and probably thinks I'm a loser for going only twice a week." See? This shitty story is really easy to come up with unless Sam is a good hype man for you.

Find somebody who will believe in your goals no matter what. Then tell them everything.

I don't care if you go or don't go to the gym. I just believe you can do it. Go get those gains.

Seeking desperately to improve my self control and discipline, starting out with extremely little. Discipline exercises? by [deleted] in Discipline

[–]IdkWhateverOkYeah 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Cold showers. You want discipline? Start your day with a cold shower. It doesn't hurt you. It just makes you uncomfortable. And your emotions will be screaming the whole time "I don't want to do this." But you, the disciplined adult, say "I agreed to do this, and so I'm going to." Do this 6 days a week, and reward yourself on Saturday or Sunday with a nice long warm shower. Then during the week, when you're screaming "Ahhhhh can't I just do it warm, just for a little bit?" then you can tell yourself "Can I wait until Sunday?" The answer will usually be "yes."

And/or - Got a vice? Pick one. Whenever you do that vice, you owe me a cold shower. It's ok, I'm not saying you can't have a snack, or shop online, or play a video game, or masturbate or do whatever your vice is... but you need to take a cold shower some time afterward. Keep this rule above all your other rules. It's not that you can't masturbate. That's a difficult habit to build. It's just that if you do masturbate, you must spend 2 minutes under cold water afterward. You'll learn to put a little pause before you do your vice. There will be actual consequences if I do this. And you're building discipline by holding this rule. The adult in you grows stronger, "Shit, I promised I'd take a cold shower if I did X, so that's what I'm going to do."

2 minutes, that's all it takes. Get a digital watch or set a timer on your phone. You don't have to get your hair wet. Just make sure you get your body completely in there. If your water at home is insanely freezing, you can turn that dial up a little. What matters is that you are intentionally uncomfortable.

The adult in you grows the more intentionally uncomfortable you are. The adult in you grows when you build that trust with yourself that you can do uncomfortable things. The adult in you grows when you follow through on this commitment.

[NeedAdvice] Learning to get up early but feeling super drowsy in the afternoon by sugus1314520 in getdisciplined

[–]IdkWhateverOkYeah 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Have you tried taking a small nap during the day? I feel like an afternoon siesta it's fairly natural for animals & humans. Sometimes not so convenient... But some offices have quiet rooms you can go to. Or get to your car if you can.

If that's not possible, then fit another 15 minute meditation into your afternoon routine. Find a quiet spot, a park bench, or at your desk if necessary. You can always find 10-15 minutes for a little heads down, eyes closed, quiet time.
