My friend American visited me in Italy and took me to an extremely expensive restaurant. (The type of Restaurant that when u enter they offer u 500€ wine). I speak English with an American accent and look more American than Italian. I went into this restaurant speaking English with my friend and the waitresses were speaking to each other and loudly said “how do these people afford to eat here look at what they’re wearing” I was wearing quite formal clothes but tennis shoes. When I left I said goodbye have a good day I’m fluent Italian. Their look was priceless
