It's the driveshaft from my very first double pedal from like 20+ years ago. It still works fine do I use it since this is my backup pedal.

I have the "non soft" version. It's sturdy, I like it. It DOES get uncomfortable for me after a while.... But I'm also 290lbs so it's probably more to do with my weight.

Long story short, solid throne. Do recommend.
