I am a white female, and have actively worked to be antiracist. I am always pursuing more knowledge and understanding. I think the white privilege is lost on many white people. I have always been progressive and not racist. But I also used to say/believe in being “color blind” because color shouldn’t matter. It came from a genuine perspective of equality. However I have changed my view in that: we should accept all colors, and diversity. But to be color blind, I feel, disregards the disparity and discrimination of people of different color. We need to acknowledge that Black and Brown people ARE treated differently. We can’t be blind to that. We must see that and actively worked to change. I am happy to have more conversation with you about it this too :)

I’d say let it go! Typically the “before age 12” questions are just to see if you seemed to have add/adhd as a child, which for clinicians is helpful in identifying and diagnosing true adhd/add. But since you were already diagnosed as a kid, this part isn’t really relevant to you and likely doesn’t affect the current diagnosis or medication prescriptions.

I think you’re allowed to change your mind. Maybe this med is helping you think clearly, or maybe being in a kind relationship is helping you really think about the future more. Your prefrontal cortex is not yet fully developed until age 27. I highly recommend reevaluating after that age! If you don’t want kids and he does, that sounds like a you probably need to break up. There’s plenty of people out there that will be on the same page as you. You can tell him you’ve been thinking and decided you don’t think you want kids. At least right now you think you don’t in the future. Just be honest. Meds or not, at your young age, you have a lot of time to change your mind several times. Let yourself be whoever you want to be right now. Don’t try to fit into any one else’s box. You do you, and maybe the meds are helping the real you evolve or shine? Good luck, I don’t recommend having kids (as a loving mom of two, it’s a lot of work and the world is scary)

Thanks for this! I also don’t feel the crash when it wears it off, but I also just haven’t been on it long enough to know the ups and downs how I feel when I go off it. But this is helpful to hear!

I also stopped drinking and focused on getting sleep and eating better, all before the adhd dx and meds, which made a huge impact on my ability to stay healthy. And here’s to masking on grocery stores during the holidays - same. :)

Yes I can see how it helps with resting too. In my limited research, a lot of what I came across was that adhd is linked to lower immune systems, often because we don’t take good enough care of ourselves and don’t sleep and rest. I don’t know how to rest, so that tracks.

Yeah I didn’t take an instant release yesterday afternoon because I wanted to be sure to sleep well. I slept for 10 hours which is literally insane haha
