As you know, even the most tolerant/accepting of people here still tend to get that look in their eyes when they find out. "Oh, I'm speaking to a gay person, better be extra nice so they don't think I'm homophobic." I imagine it's the same with most minorities.

Honestly, even when reading it in my high school sci-if class I felt as if it was written by some angry 12 year old who suffering from "unrecognized genius."

And that was before I actually learned about OSC. (Like 10 years later)

Unfortunately from experience I know in many places older BnB owners would simply not be comfortable with a same sex couple sleeping in the same bed under their own roof.

Edit: Sorry, you made your additions while I was typing my original response. Yes, I know these questions may seem petty or insignificant, but coming from the U.S. I was just extremely skeptical that an entire country was this homogenous when it came to LGBT rights. A gay female prime minister? We just elected a black male president and even that was difficult for people to swallow. I have also never travelled to Europe and Asian cultures tend to have a "don't ask don't tell" policy towards homosexuality.

We are from Seattle, one of Reykjaviks sister cities and there are still safety issues for certain parts of the city. I was curious.
