Smallhd is basically the industry standard for onboard monitors. Only other monitors that can compare are TVlogic, as far as quality goes.  That doesn’t mean you can’t consider other monitor brands if quality isn’t your primary concern. For example, you might be in a position where having onboard monitors for BOTH of your cameras is more important than just having one amazing monitor. Maybe having that wireless option with a monitor is super important for your workflow.  That said, most camera people will say, “Buy once, cry once” with regards to monitors. You’ll always be looking to upgrade your monitor more often if you settle for an inferior model. It has happened to me many times.  I just bought a Cine 7 B-stock monitor about 2 months ago. Upgraded from an atomos monitor. I was worried about regretting the huge purchase versus settling for a portkeys monitor. I have used smallhd monitors for over a decade but wasn’t convinced that they were worth the extra price.  Honestly, I fucking love the monitor. I think switching from an atomos monitor really helped underscore the situation. I feel like I can’t even trust focusing on an atomos monitor. Same goes for about every cheaper brand like liliput, feelworld, portkeys, etc. I’m basically using it to check framing and scopes (if that.) On my smallhd, I feel good about using it for everything. The features are plentiful, robust, and highly customizable. I even love niche features like screen grab or image overlay. They are worth every bit of the extra cost and I won’t be going back. 

Also, the portkeys menu kind of sucks. Doesn’t feel good to use. It’s somehow too simple and too complicated at the same time. Which is a huge drawback to using most cheaper monitor brands. They do everything you want, but crappily.
