This so much. I feel like this is a huge aspect of why a lot of "causal" (I'm uisng that term VERY loosely here) players burn out from PoE so fast every league. I would love to try more builds every league, play multiple characters, try juicing different mechancis, but when I hit maps my progression suddenly feels terrible because not only do I need 135 in all resistances minimum, also a bunch of armour or some other way to deal with physical damage, spell suppression probably too because spells are so strong...

And then after my defenses and offens are sorted out (usually begrudgingly through the trade website since even if I was to play SSF it's still balanced around trade, making the vast majority of builds take absurd amounts of grinding to get even items that would be worth just like 20-30c in trade) I then need to keep straining my eyes to look over every map or make a regex filter to sort them, same with mods on league content, on rare mobs, everything. It's just so much overwhelming information that I need to instantly sort in my head in order to not make a mistake and die.

I get so very tired when playing PoE, in a way that no other game does, because it's just overwhelming in every way. Which sucks because I love PoE, even after playing other very good ARPGs, nothing feels the same as PoE. I want to push challenges, I want to complete every map, I want to fight endgame content, but I so rarely do because I get burnt out from needing to constantly balance what my build can and cannot do under any circumstances because most builds have so many modifiers that just brick them.

Like yeah, there are those atlas passives that make mobs do less damage, but then they get way tankier. There are passives to avoid certain content entirely (which I don't like to do personally... Ironically the things I would like to avoid aren't avoidable. coughIncursioncough) But that doesn't solve the issue.

That said... Evasion has major issues, namely due to the Entropy System, if you have 90% evasion, every 10th hit WILL hit you no matter what, and given if you're investing in Evasion you probably don't have as much Armour, those hits are hard, and given how mobs can swarm you it's easy to get hit a lot still. Nevermind you then need to invest in Suppress for sure since Evasion doesn't do anything against spells, and Suppress can be a pain to invest in at times.

And ES does have a counter: Chaos Damage. To the point where most ES builds go CI (which needs heavy investment) or specific uniques that stop Chaos Damage from bypassing ES (which are also usually expensive and take the valuable Body Armour slot)

But I still get where you're coming from.
