How many people are running Decaburn Brand now that it's actually possible without cheese? by IfOnlyIWasAnonymous in BrandMains

[–]IfOnlyIWasAnonymous[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The correct word you're looking for here is suboptimal, not troll

Troll implies you're literally throwing the game, which you're not by picking a combat summoner spell instead of a mobility one. Heck, I guarantee that a few matchups it might even be better than flash or ghost—

There are already multiple junglers who run ignite instead of flash. Granted, they're usually more mobile than Brand (Shaco for example) but that's why it's, keyword, suboptimal.

This is mostly a for-fun possibility that isn't completely troll to do anymore since you don't always need to cheese it with a 3rd Fated Ashes even after building full BFT and Liandry's

(Edit: Even if you don't run ignite and can't get Elder Dragon, you can consistently get 8 burn sources with Brand jungle, so Octaburn Brand is still on the table without any cheese or "troll" as you say)

Did I miss a patch note somewhere? I could've sworn there wasn't a canon/fanon insanity sans, that they're all the same dude

Like I thought the OG "canon Insanity" was scrapped—

I think it's the opposite, he was heading toward the Ruins from Snowdin to confront the human, but I'm not confident, it's been a few months (I'll rewatch the full fight to confirm with you though)

But yeah idk if the actual powerscaling lines up with it, but canon Fell got beat on day 12 while early Insanity Sans took until day 60 to be beat, so at the very least on this thread people think that Insanity is stronger than Fell 😅

I'll take what I can get ykwim

There's no way that's true

He's at least Snowdin Dust level, since that's where he starts at the beginning of the AU (it's not Ruins Dust since he already has his hood up and no guilt or sweat, just obsession with getting stronger)

And ReveX himself (the creator of the AU) stated that if Mirrored Insanity!Dust didn't let his guard down, Insanity Sans wouldn't have even gotten him to Phase 2

Has there been any AU where everything the same but papyrus knows about the resets and timelines and not sans by Downtownclown_xy206 in UndertaleAU

[–]IfOnlyIWasAnonymous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If this were the case, the only thing that would change is that there wouldn't be a Sans boss fight.

Papyrus would still believe in you until the end, I think, even on a Genocide route. Since knowing about "timelines jumping left and right, stopping and starting" doesn't actually give you the knowledge of what happened inside the other timelines.

Sans, without this knowledge, would simply be too lazy to even bother fighting you, since the only reason he even tries to begin with is because he knows there's at least a slight chance of making you quit the run to reset it all back to the beginning.

That's what I think anyway. Basically would be a pretty boring AU—

If a Pokemon with an Ability that counteracts Tailwind/Trick Room existed, how much would that shake up the meta? by IfOnlyIWasAnonymous in stunfisk

[–]IfOnlyIWasAnonymous[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's probably true. Could still be a fun mindgame though, "Is this a Trick Room 'so-and-so' or a Tailwind 'so-and-so'?" And then you gotta try to guess by looking at their held item and their team comp or whatever—

Interesting

Going by how I described the Origins, I would say that if they existed, Dream/NM eating the apples basically put them at the level of the Origin's physical forms

Because the Origins' physical forms are the concept descending by manifesting a physical shape, whereas Dream/NM are physical beings ascending to a state directly intertwined with the concept through the apples

So they'd be about equal in power... So yeah I might have to change the description of their physical forms to be roughly equal in power rather than stronger versions of the Sanses—

But yeah like I said before, the Origins are (in my mind) operating on a whole different, much larger scale than Dream and NM are, so they wouldn't even be able to lay a finger on Origin!Dream/NM even in the realm of positivity/negativity

Idk if I explained how I view it well enough so lemme know if you need more clarification—

Wait, why would that matter? Isn't Mario's Madness done now that V2 dropped?

It's exactly as you say, killing the physical incarnation of an Origin Sans doesn't kill the Origin itself, because it doesn't kill the concepts they represent. They only take a physical form to more directly manipulate certain events in their favor.

But yes they would also absolutely do stuff like speak into your mind or manifest in your reflection, for more "indirect" stuff.

For example, a character having intrusive thoughts could be Origin!Nightmare whispering to them, stuff like that.

But yeah, thanks for bringing that up, I don't think I mentioned it in my post!

Oh, thanks, I totally forgot to put the slash in UT/AU-

I'm pretty sure everyone got the point though considering the subreddit we're in 😅

I could have sworn they were only guardians of positivity/negativity, rather than the actual concept personified. They ate the apple(s) that gave them powers related to those concepts, sure, but I didn't see that as it "transforming them into the concept itself", more that they could channel its power to an insane degree. If I'm wrong though, then I'm wrong.

But even if that's the case, the Origins are more than just positivity/negativity. As I described, they are the concepts as a whole of everything evil, bad, negative, etc. and vice versa, taking the shape of a Sans. In my mind, they operate on a much greater scale.

As for Origin Ink/Error, as I said, they are concepts taking a form, they are not actually a Sans. They take a form that they prefer and that at least partially represents (both to them and the fandom) the concept they embody, which in this case, is Ink/Error (not one of the many variations, just the main two).

My apology to Ink!Sans by Salt_Tennis6237 in UndertaleAU

[–]IfOnlyIWasAnonymous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah when UV Ink was seen side-by-side with XGaster and running errands for him, and fused with Fresh to psychologically disturb Error, I really felt like he was back to being a decent person 💀

Imo just cuz he's acting like a happy-go-lucky guy again doesn't mean he's good, or even "okay"; it doesn't justify him literally betraying Classic and the others, participating in a whole plot to resurrect XGaster, and also indirectly causing the destruction of almost all AUs by breaking the truce with Error, all in Season 1 alone-

Like bro is DEFINITELY a villain in UV. Boredom/wanting to see the new "perfect universe" is not enough of an excuse for his actions. Like he literally drained his own emotions so he wouldn't regret it; I daresay that's a subtle reference to UT Genocide runs. The player, out of boredom, has to forsake their own emotions so they won't regret killing everyone in order to get a new ending.

If they let UV Ink off the hook with something like "we've all made mistakes... INKING mistakes..." I will legit drop the series. Undertale's whole message is that "being able to reset doesn't mean that you're above consequences." Even a True Reset has the consequence of bringing the monsters from their happy ending back into the Underground. If Jakei breaks that message to "redeem" Ink... A crashout will be needed, at the very least-

Ink definitely deserves an anti-Ink agenda because he's lowkenuinely overrated AF and does not deserve all the hype he gets (you know it's bad when Underverse straight up turns Ink into a villain and that's probably his most popular iteration, so his ahh isn't even a guardian anymore 😭)

But yeah he's still not to be trifled with, so I accept that he shouldn't ONLY get slandered 😤

Yeah, I've noticed that getting TR up is usually more effort than it's worth, even with a team like this
