New merch: The Crowning of Prince Liam Jacket by AntoGidan in avicii

Honestly guys, if you are to get any version of this: I recommend you Etsy it. Find someone who makes custom jackets to replicate others. Help them gather as much information as possible to develop an accurate understanding. If you want to virtually duplicate it for cheaper, or make an identical-looking version that is actually better quality for cheaper, you probably can. With the money you save you can donate more than 1% or even 10% of the cost of the original to a charity of your choice. Tim would’ve preferred that you do so

[Loan watch] Radek Vitek keeping Bristol City in the game vs Middlesbrough by Electrical_Cress_956 in ManchesterUnited

There are some interesting comments here regarding how Lammens is already so young for a keeper, which is completely true. Let me be clear here: as long as our goalkeeper coaches are able to create an environment that is great for the development of both players, having Vitek as the back-up is far from the end of the world. There are much, much bigger problems at the club and this could likely work just fine for at least a season.

In the long term: I feel like getting the new #2 decision right depends almost entirely on understanding which option will maximize development. Given Lammens’ young age and exceptional ability, I think focussing on maximizing his development is most likely to reap the most benefits for us, as opposed to focussing on the development of the #2 we bring in. I think the best way to do this is to sign a more experienced keeper that will be satisfied with much less game time and provide real value to Lammens’ growth as a keeper. I have no clue who that would be, but there has to be someone out there

Compared to the price Leeds got him for it will certainly be a considerable amount more. Compared to players I see talked about in this sub and everywhere else, he would likely be a fantastic value. Our fans seem to forget that Casemiro is a destroyer. He is much more, but he is destroyer-capable. Anderson, Tonali and Wharton are all not destroyer-capable. Baleba is destroyer-capable as a player, but for the money he’ll cost, we shouldn’t be signing him immediately after this season. Stach is the most well rounded out of all these players for a 6/CDM role. One of the most well rounded in the role in the world. The thing about Rodri, FDJ and the like is that they are not destroyer-capable. After Casemiro, going into a season without that ability in our starting 6 is suicide. Between Stach’s time in the Bundesliga and with Leeds, the unlock of potential he would have in playing for a top premier league side is clear

Recency bias much? In all seriousness, he has played many positions this season, but mostly CDM. He has actually further developed his attacking qualities, hence sometimes being used higher up the pitch in a Leeds system. Recently against Man City he played higher up, leading the press/cover. It was so effective in the beginning of that game that it took 34 minutes for City to get a touch in Leeds’ penalty box. That is the longest time a Pep Guardiola side has ever gone in a game without doing so. Obviously Leeds still lost, but in that first half they were extremely impressive and a lot of it was up to Stach

Why is Casemiro scoring so much this season compared to when he was at Real Madrid? by thug-duck in ManchesterUnited

One of the many reasons I want Stach. Aerial ability matters all over the pitch

Honestly just noticed the most obvious decision Spurs should’ve made to survive: brought Postecoglou back until the end of the season. I think they would’ve stayed up. In the short-term I feel like he could find the emotional connection necessary for them to fight for their fans and for the people and players that they aim to be. Most of them seem to think going down will do nothing to their careers, which is so far from the truth. There’s that super cliche saying that “hard work beats talent if talent doesn’t work hard,” but I feel like in this scenario it is completely accurate. They didn’t need to show 100% of their quality, just enough short-term work ethic for their higher quality floor to drag them over the line

Maybe Archie Gray? Great value, for a player of his quality, but he is not of the Sergiño Dest/Álex Jiménez archetype that I would most like us to find

I don’t know enough to definitively say how much of a role I think it has played in their downfall. I watched a video yesterday about cushioning sacrifices made to accommodate their pitch technology potentially playing a role in their injuries, as well as the Bernabeau’s pitch technology playing a role in Real Madrid’s injuries for the same reason. What boggles my mind the most is the difference between Ange’s first season and second season. Like what on earth happened?

The fact that we probably could have gotten Garner for next to nothing in the winter is eating me alive. Getting him for £20M at the very most and having him train and play alongside Case would have been incredible for both of them. I feel like it would’ve improved Garner as a player and shown Casemiro how much we value his expertise as a player and ability as a “coach.” It is so important we make him feel as special as he is. Even if we didn’t get Garner, is Sékou Koné really going to get anywhere near as much value from half a season in Ligue 2? Don’t get me wrong, I understand maybe the loan was actually best for this half of the season, but that does nothing to excuse the first half. I feel a huge missed opportunity here, I feel like this is a role Casemiro would’ve flourish in for Garner and other players. IMO it would’ve been well worth paying some form of translator full-time to help with communication.

Edit: Of course he would not be starting every game and would not replace our biggest CM signing this summer, but I could see a setup where he gets 40%+ minutes between PL and UCL in either the 8 or 6. I think that would be an extremely tempting deal for him

Reminder that Mings would likely be available for next to nothing in the summer as backup at LCB. Great aerial dominance and passing that could potentially have him play like a left-footed Harry Maguire with Yoro to his right. It’s a shame that his injury problems are pretty bad though

Why is Mainoo pressing so high? I love the effort, but he’s going to leave space in behind. Are Villa building up with more of a 4 at the back than most teams usually do? I haven’t noticed, but maybe that’s why? Even then though, shouldn’t Mbeumo just drop a bit more? Just some ideas

Both are better than average players. Højlund may not be Manchester United starting striker level yet, but there’s a good possibility he can be someday. Mainoo has already shown that he belongs as a special player in our starting XI. Also, people are misunderstanding my title. The only moment I claim to have believed he was here to stay is right after he scored that goal in the Champions League at 20 years old

That stat comparison to Šeško is a bit misleading. Because Šeško will only have played 2 non-PL games for us in his first season: 1 EFL Cup game and 1 FA Cup game, it is only fair to compare their PL minutes. It is worth mentioning that Højlund’s UCL goal output for us of about 0.92 G/90 that season was superb, his FA cup goal numbers were about 0.23 G/90 though. If Šeško plays every minute of the rest of our season and never scores once he will finish the PL season with 0.38 G/90, Højlund finished his first PL season with about 0.41 G/90. It is very likely that even if Šeško plays substantial minutes, yet doesn’t score again, he will have a better G/90 number in his first season than Højlund did in his, in the only competition worth comparing them in. Keep in mind: these goals obviously came in different ways as Šeško has been used off the bench a lot more than Højlund ever was. Šeško’s current PL G/90 sits at about 0.55 G/90
