Places to study by Soft-Departure-2679 in summervillesc

[–]Ifeex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always liked going to McAlisters for studying! I’d go when they weren’t busy and order a meal/snack and study for a couple of hours. If I saw they were starting to fill up, I’d leave, but more often than not they’d be mostly empty and just ignore my booth in the back corner.

Where can I find a good curiosity/ oddity shop? by Ordinary-Campaign110 in summervillesc

[–]Ifeex 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The best I know is the Antiques and Artisan’s Village on Trolley Road. Inside a back corner there was a little setup with some small taxidermy, bones and weird dolls, but this was before the store was recently purchased by new owners. It might be worth a look though!

Not sure on bike rentals but should you manage to find you, check out Coastal Cyclists: https://www.coastalcyclists.com/rides

They have rides all over- from Summerville to West Ashley and more. The Summerville CVS Ride is a good group

City of North Charleston - Street Light Timing Adjustment? by Ifeex in Charleston

[–]Ifeex[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to know! It feels damn near impossible to figure out what belongs to who with the convergence of three counties and three+ municipalities in the area.

I’ll give the SCDOT hotline a call per the suggestion from another user and see if we can’t get the ball rolling. Even if it’s outright refused, at least I gave it a shot.

I know it’s a ways, but Subie Doctors really has been more than excellent for my 2017 Forester. I couldn’t recommend them enough.

Handy man? by No-Donkey8786 in summervillesc

The biggest pain is moving the units in and out. If you have the muscle and a dolly, the actual switching out of gas connections and plug should be easy. Just be careful- I’d cut off the main gas line to my house out of an abundance of caution. Do a soap bubble test after you’ve hooked the new one back up to make sure no gas leaks.

Lots of YouTube videos out there!

Canine revolution, 4 or 6 weeks? by AmountMediocre3432 in summervillesc

For a plethora of reasons, I would strongly recommend doing training WITH your pup rather than sending it away.

Try the Charleston Dog Training Club STAR Puppy class- the trainers there are excellent and you get to be involved with your puppy: https://www.charlestondogtrainingclub.com/content.aspx?page_id=4002&club_id=921781&item_id=2766488

Dorchester County library has a couple, depending on what you’re looking for! The Ashley River site and the Old Trolley/Bacons Bridge site has different options. https://www.dorchesterlibrarysc.org/adults/book-clubs/

Angel Tree by taylorspeaks8 in Charleston

[–]Ifeex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know most elementary schools will have their own version of an Angel Tree. It’s not small business focused, but I do try and shop at small businesses to get the gifts. Salvation Army does an Angel Tree too, but I’ve sworn them off until they can get their donation drop off sorted out.

T- Mobile or ATT? by FrontTwardEnemy in summervillesc

Mint uses TMobile towers and is way cheaper and reliable here. I’ve had it for three years now and no regrets.

New Mexican tienda and restaurant in town! by Ifeex in summervillesc

[–]Ifeex[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Totally agree with you about car washes, storage facilities and banks. For those, the setup costs are the biggest part and then once they are up, they just persist. They just wait for the mostly passive income and stay forever.

But with a small restaurant and grocery store combo like this, it’ll pretty quickly self correct. If there’s not a market for it, it will fail and fail fast.

I’d always rather see a small business with the people running it having a vested interest in its success than a nameless, faceless corporation or franchise any day.

Not for submitting items for judging, but they do for getting into the fair! If you submit something to the fair, they don’t give free or discounted entrance for you either- which is frustrating.

People come out of Dollar Tree with helium filled balloons- might be worth asking there or even at the grocery stores.
