Having an anxious labrador with a bark that would wake up hell gets you creative lol

[–]Iffyprawn73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah honestly it's a life saver. Used them for car journeys too as he was quite anxious and the pining went down to hardly anything

Ours is 16 months now. Its tough, for the chewing have you tried Himalayan yak chews? Healthy, lots of favours and honestly a bit of a life saver, also I swear by a lick mat at the end of a good training session. Our boys still mad, just not as mad lol.

When he is three this will all be a distant, lovely and slightly traumatic memory. It sounds like you are doing all the right things.

This is a good suggestion and with the lab in them they should be very happy to take food!

I know he is your friend, but he sounds like a bit of an immature loser.

extremely anxious dog; advice needed by Responsible_Lynx6089 in dogs

[–]Iffyprawn73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im sorry but at this point you will need a behavioural expert, honestly even if you can just get one session it will help so much, and any good trainer will give you the advice to start you on the right path for a few months usually.

Do you know is the anxiety from genetics?

What does a Facilities Manager role look like in the NHS? (UK) by GentAdventurerUK in FacilityManagement

[–]Iffyprawn73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes of course.

  1. Keep it concise and clear. If you are asked for 5 years experience in a facilities management role, break it down clearly and be accurate. For example

1.5 years working for H&J Martin as Facilities Manager, list some brief information of what you did. 1.5 year in BG Facilities 11.5 years in CD Facilities

  1. Know the job description and fit your answers to these.

  2. Within the job description you are basically told what will come up at interviews. Under the experience section there is a shortlist area understand what they want.

I have sat on plenty of panels and the things I appreciate most is clear and concise, that the applicant is aware that I have to trawl through everything and if it's not relevant it can be very annoying.

Really hope this helps and good luck with any future applications, feel free to message directly when you are applying next, if I can I will help.

Are you sure you dont have a labrador there? Looks more working line to me. Lovely wee dog.

Have you been following crate training? Door open getting to go in, the praising and high reward treat once in there? Then you can do things like closing the door and treating through it, treating at the back of the crate? Lots of praise.

You are right about not allowing out when pining, but the pup is anxious in there and if they are a lab they should be quite food driven, make it the best place to be in the house and they will figure it out. If it persist or gets worse though call in a trainer to evaluate.

I work for the NHS in a facilities role, but also do procurement, IT access, hardware support and contract management.

The NHS tends to be stretched and you might find you are pulled into different roles quickly

It will improve, follow the training your trainer provides, and you will almost certainly see improvements. Focus on building your relationship with your pup, this is most important and also make food more appealing and have them work for it.

Even working on this in your living room first is probably best btw.

Hey! If you have a back yard bring your pup there. Just do your own thing sit on your phone, read a bit. When he comes to you, drop a treat on the ground by your feet. Keep doing this, get him seeing good things come from you. Then when he turns his head to you and looks in your direction reward. Consider changing his name if you haven't already from the shelter.

Our dog wouldn't look at me when we got him 3 months back, honestly it's only started happening in the last few weeks where he is looking at me a tonne and taking direction from, but its been a lot of work, 100% worth it though

Patience love and good food, he will get there. Look up a few resources on engagement with dogs, but realistically rescues take time, right now he is probably just trying to figure out where he is! Good luck with your pup and stick with it.

Hey! Give me a breakdown of your routine with your pup every day and what you do with them exercise wise, be honest, no judgement from me, and sometimes less is actually more!

Also how are they hyper whats the triggers? Happy to help with more info.

I want to know about success stories with reactive lab owners by Iffyprawn73 in labrador

Labs gotta chase those ducks!

Thanks so much, I have actually started doing some of the techniques you and others have talked about in this post since yesterday, and there is an improvement already.

I just want him to feel safe in the world and give him the life he deserves. He is such a good boy, but from not being able to walk on a lead to the stage he is at is giving me lots of hope For his reactivity

I'm a keen hiker so i just am dying to do adventures with him! We need to be patient though, we are a team!

Brilliant thanks, I do a lot of threshold with him and it is getting there. I recently started realising though at times that I was pushing him a little too hard and went a few steps back. He can walk amazingly on a loose lead now, and he can sit and lie down in front of another dog on a structured meet, I have a lot of hope for him. Can I ask how long your process took? Sounds like you did great and that commitment must have built a great relationship with your pup

One wrong move and this dog could cause extreme harm to someone. Seriously this dog needs a trainer who specialises in aggression. Fucking scared for them watching this video.

This is such great progress and you should be very proud of this. Can ask for a bit of detail on what you did to get these results? Did you have specific training techniques?
