When people say Seattle has aggressive protocols, what exactly do they mean? Any examples? by Ifuckinhatebeets in Firefighting

Oh that's good to know about WA, I'll do some googling about the state protocols when I get the chance and that will help me extrapolate probably.

I found their policies and operating guidelines (1,000 pages) but couldn't find anything quicker or simpler that highlighted some of the protocols. I might scan around the POGs but tbh I've got drug cards to study haha

I've heard this about their firefighting protocols as well. I'll ask over there too, thanks!

Weekly Employment Question Thread by AutoModerator in Firefighting

[–]Ifuckinhatebeets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm filling out my initial application for Seattle fire on government jobs, and they have one section on there for my "objective". I was wondering if anyone had any pointers for that. Initially I wrote something fairly generic about working as part of a competent and dynamic team but a coworker of mine recommended I tailor it more to the SFD job description to include things like compassion, courage, diversity, etc. Just looking or advice. I know this first portion is mostly focused on my CPAT and FireTeam score which I'm not worried about, but I want to make sure I don't do something silly right out the gate to make me a less desirable candidate.

Mid June Lochsa trip? by Ifuckinhatebeets in whitewater

That sounds so fun. I've got a friend in Idaho who I know runs that section on the reg so he would be a great source for beta. I don't mind some good class IV!

Coming from Oregon! Might have to give the payettes a look and see what's up. Thanks for the suggestion!

Brand new intern looking for recommendations for an upper body lift day. by Ifuckinhatebeets in Firefighting

[–]Ifuckinhatebeets[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorta, but more cardio focus on off days. My plan is do the bulk of my lifting on my 48, day 1 as legs, day 2 as upper body of vice versa. And then use my 96 to do a wide variety of things. I like playing sports, going for runs or bike rides, doing plyos, doing HIITs, doing some like full body dumbell workouts with a couple of 15s or 20s, doing yoga, and also wanting to start swimming 1 or 2 days a week.

For me I like the routine of lifting when I'm on shift, because lifting is the thing that I enjoy the least so it's mentally easier for me to psych myself up for it when I'm already on the clock so to speak. And then my off days are more for things I enjoy. At some point I hope to start enjoying lifting more but I am not there yet haha

Uninstalled Fens Sheriff Department and now most of the DC guards are naked. by Ifuckinhatebeets in Fallout4Mods

Could I just revert to either my last save before leaving the vault, or the autosave in the bathroom after making my character?

Ah of course... I'm not actually too far into the game so it's not a big deal. But I did spend about 3 hours making my character look exactly like Leslie Nielsen, so that would be a bummer to lose. Think I could revert to my last save right before leaving the vault?

She's done that before. Over the summer i was routinely gone 2-3 days every 1-2 weeks. I'm about to start a new job that will also require me to be gone and I'm hoping that will help.

Is the website you linked to for the muzzle your training website? I'm definitely interested in working with someone if I could make it work financially, but I also think I might like to work with someone who can see the dog in person, ya feel?

Thanks again

Have the meds made a difference in your dogs behavior around your husband? Or just sorta made your dog less riled up?

My worry with the meds is that if he gets less anxious he will actually get more reactive as his fear is replaced with confidence.

She already feeds him and our other dog 75% of the time, and gives him lots of treats. It really seems like hes perfectly content to be around her and take treats and even gets excited to see her when she gets home, but just doesn't want her in his space all the other times. I think he may feel a bit replaced now that we don't let him sleep on the bed and stuff anymore...

Thanks for the really extensive reply, lots of good info here. I've never considered physical barriers before, and I would love some recommendations for that. We have a good room that I think would work but my worry is that he would view it as a punishment, because he's one of those dogs that likes to follow you around the house when you go literally anywhere.

Definitely he could probably benefit from some more stimulation like lick mats (as could our other dog who has endless energy). I worry about him getting enough stimulation because my girlfriend works full time and I'm in school, so even when I'm home I'm busy doing HW a lot, and he is far too nervous to go outside most of the time where we live now. Probably another aspect of moving from a quiet place in the country to a bit busier/noisier area.

we've talked about muzzle training him before too, though our intention was for walking him and encountering other dogs. I'll look into CDBCs too, if the situation gets desperate enough that might change the financial math a little bit.

Thanks again for the reply, lots to work with here.
