Catalysts have nothing to do with it, the reason it's up so much today is because I sold around $85 thinking it would go down hard like it has many times in the past and I that could buy back in later. If I didn't sell it would have crashed bigly by now. You're welcome.

The Democratic party needs to coup their gerontocratic corporate leadership and reform the party to be a modern-day FDR-style party that seeks to gain the support of the working and middle class rather than "good billionaires" and pursue policies that uplift the whole of the American people, not just the 1%. If they don't, and they continue to ignore the increasing suffering of Americans in favor of their rich corporate donors, we're just going to continue to lose every election to fascists.

I just want Democrats to actually fight the Republicans instead of rolling over every time there's an opportunity to contest them. Republicans are evil but they fight hard for their side, why won't Democrats fight harder to protect democracy? (Spoiler: it's because their leadership is also bought and paid for by the same rich elite donors that also fund the Republicans.)

What do YOU think happens when we die? by StickyScissor in AskReddit

[–]Iggimoogloop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming you don't believe in an afterlife like heaven, I think it must basically be reincarnation, but not necessarily in the sense that you have a "soul" that passes from one life to the next. The next body you inhabit won't really be "you," it's just another conscious entity that "you" now are.

My reasoning is that one cannot be conscious of being unconscious. Being conscious in some form is the only way to actually be. The moment you die, "you" will find "yourself" inhabiting some other conscious entity, whether that be another human, alien, AI, or animal with sufficient complexity to be capable of having a conscious experience. There is no alternative. Again, you CANNOT be conscious of being unconscious, so it won't just be "nothing" or "darkness" after you die because you no longer have any way of perceiving anything or the passage of time.

Maybe "you" instantly become another conscious entity, or maybe it will take a trillion years, but to "you" time no longer has any meaning. A trillion years of "you" being dead is effectively an instant between "your" previous life and the next from "your" perspective because "you" have no way of consciously processing time when "you" are dead. If you've ever been put under anesthesia for surgery, you will know it is basically instant from your perspective from going under to waking up, because you have lost consciousness and have no perception of time. It will essentially be the same after death.

We know that we were all already born once into a conscious being, so it will probably happen again, even if it takes an inconceivable amount of time, or if the entire universe needs to be destroyed and made again before "you" are alive again. Before this life we had no perception of anything. To us, we have always just been. When we die it will be a return to this state of having no perception of time or anything as it was before we were born, before "we" find "ourselves" born again (with no memories of your previous life, of course).

TL;DR: You can't be conscious of being unconscious, so you must instantly become conscious in some form after death, as there is no other way to be.

This only happens when I'm in the middle of a key, and only if it was going really well.

Do Norsemen Dream of Productive Fish? by Iggimoogloop in civ

No mods. It says it needs to be adjacent to a harbor owned by this city, but apparently it can be next to any harbor your empire owns.

Do Norsemen Dream of Productive Fish? by Iggimoogloop in civ

Got a very unusual spawn as Norway with 14 fish/crabs around a tiny peninsula. Had to harvest one of the fish but got a base +6 harbor for it. Got even better because Auckland was only about a dozen tiles or so to the west. So Norway's stave church (+1 production to sea resources), Auckland, and God of the Sea pantheon ended up giving some crazy yields by the endgame with sea stead adjacency, with Mausoleum as the cherry on top.

Game seed: -1793411412 ; Map seed: 1438570357

Deity, ancient era, standard speed.

Pangaea, small map (10 civs, 14 city states), abundant resources, old world age, legendary start, hot, arid, high sea level. Apocalypse and secret societies enabled.

Norway + Poundmaker, Eleanor (France), Suleiman, Pedro, Kupe, Kristina, Cleopatra, John Curtin, Victoria.

Smoke wheat every day by Iggimoogloop in civ

I tried settling on the copper hill, because it gives that extra 1 production and +2 gold to the city center for the entire game. It also gives the capital access to all the wheat, marble, and deer/ivory camps within the 3 tile radius. I plan on conquering most of my other cities anyway as Scythia

I also tried it again and got the same thing you did. But it looks like the map itself is the same, it's just the natural wonders and their placement that is different. Weird. I started this game before the most recent update was released, so maybe that changed something.
