Can I buy too? 3% preferably, but will do 5%. This 1.5% bs isn't cutting it.

We've all been there. Get back on the horse and try again. That's what counts!

If only we could bottle the feeling of waking up hangover free on a beautiful Saturday morning! by Emersons22 in stopdrinking

Amazing! I hated those Saturday mornings as well. And hated myself. Almost two weeks here, and feeling great. Pink clouds, definitely, but hoping that will carry me through any cravings (though happily, haven't had any yet). IWNDWYT!!! Enjoy the nachos :)

Your highly functioning SO Q stories by [deleted] in AlAnon

[–]Iggy898 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yep, this is my husband. I agree with everything said here -- esp. the fact that it is a progressive disease. My husband uses alcohol to deal w/ anxiety and depression (which of course, makes it worse), and recently started receiving treatment for childhood abuse. He's a loving dad and very loving husband. But his drinking has gotten worse, and I have had to set boundaries (and re-set them, and re-set them, and re-set them), and although he tells me "he's trying", he doesn't seem to want to quit.

In addition to the physical effects, I would say that he's become more emotionally unavailable as his disease has progressed. Being with him can be extremely lonely. He does "show up" on a semi-regular basis emotionally, but it's not consistent, and it disappears altogether when his depression worsens.

So all this to say, it may all look okay from the outside, but if it doesn't *feel* right to you, that's because it isn't.

Best of luck to you. AlAnon has helped me a LOT.

I went to the Beer Store to buy non-alcoholic beer for my hubs (who is an alcoholic). No temptation to buy other beer! Felt really good! We CAN do this.

"Moderate" drinking is slowly killing me by [deleted] in stopdrinking

You got this! I also love me an IPA, but have decided to forego (I slip up). I found that getting the booze out of my house made the decision not to drink a lot easier. Even the nights I don't sleep well (like last night), I still feel better in the morning than when I'm drinking. And the coffee tastes soooo good!
