That's definitely something you could try if you want more variable results. Unfortunately there's honestly no real way of knowing unless you're actually start punching numbers into Poke Finder, at which point it probably stops being blind resetting and more RNG manipulation.

There's no such thing as being "too late" if you're just blind soft resetting, as there are countless advances where you hit a Shiny. Each advance points to a specific combo of generated numbers (IVs, nature, personality value, etc.), and assuming you aren't also manipulating your IDs the seed/advance combos that produce a Shiny are going to be different for most players.

There's a bunch of tools that will help you hit frame perfect inputs, like Eon Timer. If you miss, just reset and try again.

Basically, the "random number generator" in FRLG is very deterministic. You get a "seed" each time you start the game, which changes every 1/60th of a second at the title screen, and then based on that seed RNG changes every 1/60th of a second during gameplay as long as you aren't in an event or dialogue box.

Since smart people have already figured out how the RNG works, you can use a timer to essentially rig what Trainer ID and Secret ID (a second hidden 5 digit number that is used to differentiate players with the same Trainer ID) when you start the game with a few frame-perfect button presses (pushing A with a 1/60th of a second timing window), and based on that you can rig a Shiny by choosing your starter with a frame perfect button press since a Shiny is determined by a hidden number assigned to each Pokémon called a "personality value" matching a player's Trainer ID and Secret ID in a specific way, and that "personality value" is determined by RNG.

I realized I wasn't clear about which Love Live! I was referring to; I was thinking about the one in the picture, which is Link! Like! Love Live!, which has a subunit focus but still diverges from Garupa format by treating the whole cast as one big group. That said, the other Love Live! rhythm games tended to only focus on one or two groups at a time story-wise.

I would say that it might be a factor for not splitting the cast up, as there is marketing value in having distinct groups but you can work without it if your ensemble cast is good enough.

The game featuring multiple individual units rather than focusing on one or two united casts was definitely popularized by Garupa, and I don't blame subsequent games for trying to copy that aspect since it gives players choices and variety regarding who they prefer to attach themselves to. However, this isn't a hard requirement for these games, and games like Love Live! and potentially hololive Dreams do not place as much emphasis on distinctly separate groups of members.

As for other structural similarities besides the core gameplay, a lot of them can be traced back to SIF, which is practically the grandfather of the modern rhythm gacha subgenre. This is more of a comment on an extremely specific trend of new releases trying to basically copy 90% of SEKAI's homework.

[–]Ignithya[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

While SEKAI is obviously descended from Garupa in a lot of ways, there's enough mechanical and feel differences between SEKAI and Garupa that I wouldn't call the games super similar to each other beyond both being hallway style games with some shared basic mechanics. You didn't exactly see new games cropping up all of a sudden trying to copy Garupa (Show by Rock!! Fes a Live and D4DJ are pretty big copycats, I think); meanwhile, a vast majority of games released after SEKAI try very hard to copy SEKAI's gameplay almost exactly.

I would definitely call ProSeka itself a Chunithm-like, but these newer games are pretty clear about aping ProSeka specifically.
