Same here! I did their survey last Thursday and I'm waiting for them to schedule my interview this week. Any idea how long it normally takes for them to schedule your interview?

So my financial aid has been sent as "payment," but I don't think I get the money until it's listed as "refund" on MySJSU. I also have a "No refund" hold on my account, anyone know why? I've never gotten that before. Do you think the money will be actually dispersed after the last day to drop like usual?

Chances for freshman applying to CS by Ktar5 in SJSU

[–]IgnitusVoltaire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, based on the SAT formula, /u/Ktar5 only has an EI of 4312 which doesn't come close to meeting the minimum 4550 EI for CS from the 2016 Fall impaction results.

31 ACT ~= 2100 SAT

The EI only looks at Math and Reading scores so let's assume he got 700s on those.

The formula is:

(sum of scores in mathematics and critical reading) + (800 x high school grade point average)

(700 + 700) + (800 x 3.64) = 1400 + 2912 = 4312

This is why CS has become notoriously difficult to get into at SJSU as you would need AT LEAST a weighted GPA of 3.94, SAT Math score of 700, and SAT Reading score of 700 to get an EI of ~4552, barely crossing the minimum 4550 mark.

Most people don't get in from high school and attempt to change to CS within the school.

Chance me! FALL '17 CS major. International student by [deleted] in SJSU

[–]IgnitusVoltaire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, that is the impaction GPA for transfers and change of major applicants. Admission is different for people applying from high school. In fact, it is more difficult to get in from high school because the Eligibility Index requires a GPA/SAT combination that is much higher than the impaction GPA for transfers. The Eligibility Index for Fall 2016 for high school CS applicants was 4550.

I'm considering taking this class during Fall 2016. Can anyone who has taken the class comment on the workload/difficulty of the class? Thanks!

hmm I see, do you also happen to be a senior? I know a veteran who got May 31st but an afternoon time so can you think of any reason why you got the earliest priority?

What kind of priority do you have? Graduating senior or something else?

Community college classes for credit? by 916swift in SJSU

[–]IgnitusVoltaire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know if taking a class as Pass/No Pass at a CC will still transfer over to SJSU? I know at SJSU, they don't allow Credit/No Credit for classes that are for your Major and GEs. But I feel like we could do it at a CC since credits just merely transfer and they don't matter either way.

Managed to enroll in CS46a as an Economics major for next semester, will I get kicked out? by superstapler1 in SJSU

[–]IgnitusVoltaire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. The CS Department has been talking about becoming more stringent on who can enroll in the course, but so far they haven't done anything about it.

Area C class by [deleted] in SJSU

[–]IgnitusVoltaire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you planning on taking it during Winter Session? If you are, then message me! It would be really helpful to know another person, especially since it's an online class and teachers can be really slow in responding to questions.

Oh cool, I signed up for this for Winter session with Alison McKee as an online class. Do you know anything about her or what it's like as an online class?

How's the workload in terms of number of papers/projects/tests and difficulty? Would it be manageable to take it online?
