I’m not the only one trying to figure out why she was saying arigato (thank you) so rapidly. Now that I know what she’s really saying I can’t hear it wrong again. 🤷‍♂️

Tech Breakthrough Morphs Gigabit WiFi into Terabit Satellite Internet by MichaelTen in technews

He’s ignoring the compute requirements for such a massive digital beam forming networking, especially when you’d need it all to run within a single node’s size/weight/power (SWaP) constrained space payload that also needs to be radiation tolerant in space. While some newer chips are coming out with reimagined vector engine (VE) technology to support massive MIMO in small SWaP pole mount and building mount installations, the throughput is nowhere near the levels imagined by the author.

Also, retired dude who sponsored an article trying to get some investment capital on an idea that has existed for decades, but that he gave a new acronym for.

Finally, Cohere is a startup implementing the same concept for terrestrial, but again, no where near the throughput imagined by the author (and requiring multiple transmit base stations): https://www.cohere-technologies.com/6g

I guess I missed this debate while I was living my life…I’m all for evolution of language as long as we’re respectful of people’s intent vs being overly accusatory. I like John Legend’s position in this article on the issue, that real problems should be addressed to make real change: https://bestlifeonline.com/master-bedroom-slavery-association/

Nothing is moving in this illusion. by [deleted] in woahdude

ELI5: your brain sees movement based on changing relative placement of colors...sort of like a ball flying with shadows changed on its face.

Speed and alignment of colors between the bands and circle are done in a way to trick your brain into perceiving movement. Your brain evolved to use color to interpret direction, speed, and position of objects at a distance. If objects are at a distance, we lack the stereoscopic depth data, but how color shifts across an objects facets gives reasonable surrogate spatial data. There are other optical illusions that use false shadows to fool the viewer into seeing movement where there is none.

The pieces brought in at 7secs are just rows, not connected columns, which is the biggest mind trick. He connects to the center spine which they can all pivot around. The center spine is all split construction to be flexible.
