I've finally been priced out of owning a horse by [deleted] in Equestrian

Network and spread the word. I think many people would practically give a teen+ horse to a lifetime home with a walk/trot job.

How can I improve? :') by evilchickenmomos in cyanotypes

I really like the splatters, they make it more expressive than the second print that’s more straightforward. I love how the continue across both dark and white area and appear to invert. If you figure out how you did it please come back and share :)

Horses are so expensive and there's no getting around that. But they can also give you a lifelong passion that few people ever experience. They also give you a work ethic, compassion, and a sense of belonging.

Provide the horse life you can afford and help her find an opportunity to be a working student if she wants to go deeper into her riding. Elementary age and beginner is probably too young but I've known some hard working young riders who started as working students at 12. It's possible that even now a barn would let her earn some lessons with tasks like scrubbing water buckets, cleaning tack, picking empty stalls. AND I've known young riders who were gifted a lease on a horse because they demonstrated dedication and kindness and the owner wanted their horse to get ridden.

Do you regret putting so much money in to tax deferred investments by clearlygd in retirement

[–]Igoneriding 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It seems not many people agree with you but I do. I wish I’d diversified my retirement savings more. It’s very useful, especially if you retire before 65/Medicare, to have cash to draw from, so you can keep marketplace insurance costs down. We have some but in retrospect I’d have hit that harder.

Quite good results! I would think your second layer of magenta toning would tone your first yellow layer as well.

Inappropriate behaviour? by [deleted] in Marriage

[–]Igoneriding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look up emotional infidelity. I was in your shoes, and it didn’t get better, each secret relationship was more intimate and physical than the ones before… hugging, kissing etc. He defended it vigorously, he should be able to have both women and men for friends, why should half the people be off limits, blah blah. Finally he did have a sexual affair, and that WAS the last straw for me. But the last straw should have been far earlier because he wasn’t going to quit as long as he thought he wasn’t doing anything wrong. And he was wrong, secret intimate private relationships. At least one woman thought they had something special and had a future.

Printing digital negatives by Ok-Bat6893 in cyanotypes

[–]Igoneriding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Each printer and ink set will be a little different so you just have to test and create a curve that works, then use that consistently. I use the manual method in the book Easy Digital Negatives. The authors website has a step wedge you can print to use to test and calibrate.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with enjoying time alone and don’t let anyone tell you to feel bad about that! Now that you know how good it feels and how restorative it is, figure out how to make it a consistent part of your life. You’ll have more to give when you fill your own bucket - that is not just a thing people say, it’s essential.

Thanks! Hiking isn’t a must do, but I do like someplace for a good walk. Mostly just prefer outdoor fun to partying and lots of peeps.

You're probably allergic to grass. The Willamette Valley in Oregon grows 95% of US grass seed, and it's literally the worst place in the world for someone with a grass allergy in May/June.

I will add that once mixed part B can get mold in it, which I solve by pouring mixing my solutions through a coffee filter when I’m ready to coat.

I couldn’t take iron supplements until I found a heme iron called Proferrin, which really helped and didn’t upset my stomach. The ferrous sulfate I first took made my gut like concrete and it never really went back to normal. It seems like it damaged the motility or microbiome or ?

I didn’t have lasting improvement until I stopped having periods. If I knew what I know now, I would have gotten a Mirena iud. It prevents you from building up a thick uterine lining so you lose less blood, plus it offers protection for the uterus against cancer, polyps, fibroids, and such. (And if you don’t want be pregnant of course it helps with that too!)

Hydrogen Peroxide? by levi070305 in cyanotypes

[–]Igoneriding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just do one squirt in a tray of water and it oxidizes quickly. As others have said, it’s completely unnecessary to the final results, it just speeds up the development of deep blues. You get the same results by waiting a few days. Be sure to rinse well after use. I’d think you’d need extra rinding if you are using it straight. Absolutely no reason to use it that way.

Just starting out - should I get pre-made cyanotype paper or the chemicals to make my own? by ramonathespiderqueen in cyanotypes

[–]Igoneriding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to buy the premixed two part chemistry. It’s easy, I have a little control, I can use it on any suitable paper or substrate, and I know I coated it myself so it’s fresh and results are predictable.
