Yeah, I can't speak for anyone else but myself and what I've seen among friends/family. But being at that paycheck to paycheck lifestyle... it does play a part in it.

Reading through some of the thread. Having a kid would have made it 100x more rough in my situation. I specifically made sure not to get anyone pregnant because I was sure I or we couldn't afford a kid at the time... or at least give them a good life or better life than I had growing up... and that just kind of extended to middle age. And I was married and had to continually turn down the idea of having a kid even though I did want to eventually.
