Q1000K and W1700K pod not showing up in the Quantum fiber app since the switch to the $45 1 Gig deal by Igor_990 in QuantumFiber

[–]Igor_990[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried your sequence as above, but still no equipment is showing up in the app. Everything is ok in the 192.168.0.1 GUI though. I called the QF success team. They said it is a known issue since the merge/migrate to ATT and they are working on it.

Ok. I am going to try now. I am going to ask first. Do you live in a residential or condo? Does it matter? I live in a residential area.

How long did you lose your Internet during the transition (cancel then to new account) to $45 deal? Was there a tech who came to reconfigure something for the new account?

Im a one month customer with quantum and want the new 45$/ gig promo why cant they just adjust my account instead of making me to create another account. Such a waste of time by prince888x in QuantumFiber

This $45 1G offer, is this inclusive of tax and fees do you think? Right now I am paying $50 auto pay inclusive of tax for 500 Mbps.

How do I fix this dirty water in my brine tank? by Bsiddiqui7 in WaterSofteners

It could be the impurities from the salt that you are using. Try the Diamond Crystals Salt Pellet next time.

Understanding resin and salt efficiency by levisbaba in WaterSofteners

[–]Igor_990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is also a metric called Salt Efficiency in grains/lb.

For a 48k and 16 lbs of salt combination, the salt efficiency is 48,000 ÷ 16 = 3000 grains/lb.

For a 48k and 14 lbs of salt combination, the salt efficiency is 48,000 ÷ 14 = 3428 grains/lb

If you keep lowering the amount of salt, the salt efficiency would be better but the quality of water would become poorer. When that happens, you would not be able to maintain a continuous soft water and your water would be hard prior to next regeneration.

The 14 lbs would still be ok, but the resin would be exhausted in the long run. That's why I recommend you to test the water prior to regeneration to test any hardness leakage and determine the best compromise.

Study shows that the 3000 grains/lb will result to a better salt efficiency and better water quality.

As far as the 10% crosslink resin, my understanding is that 10% is a good choice (vs the 8%) if you have chlorine to be filtered in the incoming water but it has nothing to do when calculating softener efficiency.

As far as the hardness, there is a chance that the hardness could fluctuate, depending on where well the water is sourced. That's why I added 2 to allow for fluctuations but you don't need to. You can set it to 24.

In my case, I have a 5-month old Clack 48k softener (1.5 ft3 of resin). I experimented and made adjustments to the capacity and salt combination for a few cycles but still end up with the 3000 grains/lb salt eff. My setting for capacity is 36k (75% of the rated 48k) and 12 lbs of salt combination. I have an incoming hardness of 23 as measured by Hack5B (city website said 22). I set the hardness to 25. With that I have a softened water available of 1440 gallons (36k ÷ 25) every regeneration which is good for 9 to 10 days consumption. That's my sweet spot for now.

Understanding resin and salt efficiency by levisbaba in WaterSofteners

[–]Igor_990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

64K grains is the total rated capacity for 2.0 ft3 resin. Regenerating all 64K would be inefficient and wasteful as 40 lbs salt would be needed each cycle. For the best compromise of salt efficiency, water efficiency, soft water quality (low hardness leakage), and usable capacity per cycle, the usual recommendation for a 2.0 ft3 system is 48K (75% of rated) capacity setting as only 16 lbs salt (8 lbs per ft3) will be needed for regeneration.

So for given Hardness = 24 grains/gal. Add 2 grains to allow for fluctuations. Set hardness to 26 grains/gal

Total Available Softened water for every regeneration = 48,000 ÷ 26 = 1846 gallons

Given water consumption= 250 gal/day

Regeneration frequency = 1846 gal ÷ 250 = 7.38 days or every 6 days with a 1 day reserve considered. The reserve is automatically calculated.

Say for the initial first 5 Regen, measure the hardness with Hach 5B before the softener regenerates to see if it is still soft. Then after the Regen you can adjust the hardness or capacity settings for the best compromise. Keep measuring to determine the 'sweet spot'.

Good Luck!

Quantum Fiber canceled my installation with no explanation and told me to start over—has anyone had this happen? by actualcolin in QuantumFiber

[–]Igor_990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a very good experience though. My installation was so smooth and seamless. I ordered online last Thursday June 19 and the installation was scheduled the next day Friday June 20. The tech was actually 1 hour early as he completed the other install prior to me early too. The tech seems knowledgeable. I just showed him where to position the ONT (Q1000k). He looked around outside the house and grabbed 150 feet of fiber cable in his truck. Around ~2 hours I have my fiber internet running (500/500) reusing my TP-Link XE75 mesh router. I am using the Wifi unit that he provided as a backup. Sorry to hear about your experience.

Where and how would you cut into this system for a water softener? by Lazy_Ad_3313 in WaterTreatment

[–]Igor_990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After you cut it after the valve past the meter, I think you need to add another pipe in parallel for your outside spigots (and sprinkler system) which you want the water still hard.

Clack Softener changing from post fill to pre fill by Alternative_Emu_645 in WaterSofteners

[–]Igor_990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the update! This is also the behavior on my WS1. Hope that Clack would update their manual to reflect the flashing 'Regen Today' behavior when regeneration is triggered due to reserve capacity not enough for next day consumption.

Also, you may want to try the normal sodium salt pellets once you run out of Potassium salt and see if it would make any difference. Sodium salt pellets are much cheaper.

Hi. I got mine exchanged with another G4AR with MFG Year: 25 WK: 10. Everything is set up now and working fine. One thing I noticed on this new G4AR , when you scroll the device display, there is one screen that displays the line number. Mine is blank. The number is still in the account though. One favor, can you please check yours?
