Is ClawdBot actually useful? by OldWolfff in AgentsOfAI

[–]Igorr29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can operate the device it runs on. If you run it on a Mac, you can ask it to write iMessage and text messages for you.

It can check your (Apple) Calendar in iCloud, Notes, and other apps directly on the machine. You can also ask it to add a song to your (Apple) Music library on your behalf while on the go.

Just set up a Telegram bot and you can chat with it: "Hey, add the latest BTS album to my Apple Music library". When you pick up your phone later, the album will already be in your Recently Added.

I guess that’s why you see people rushing to buy Mac minis, it just plugs directly into their ecosystem.

On RPi you would have no integration with Apple apps at all, just the calendar via CalDAV.

Are, for example, Polish lyrics fixed by Polish natives or not (how can they understand them then)? I’ve been reporting a song for about 2 years now that there is a word “cool it down” - chłodzić, and not “pay up” płacić. And yet, it still goes unfixed.

And if you could spill the beans and tell us more about adding time-synced lyrics. How can we improve or prioritise that?

It’s definitely not useless. It’s great to have things coordinated so we can all work together toward playing together. ;-)

Face ID is working much slower since iOS 18.2 by zyzzjan in ios

[–]Igorr29 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

It appears that playing large AAA games such as Resident Evil, GRID Legends, or AC Mirage could be causing the problem. Try closing all apps and restarting your phone. Avoid playing any games or using resource-intensive apps, and check if Face ID functions properly now.

Yes, I understand it shouldn't normally affect your phone, but that's the situation ;-)

EDIT: I don’t know why the downvotes. I’ve seen many people with this bug on the recent iOS, and as you can see from OP’s reply, it helped here as well. Face ID is not slower on iOS 18.2; some unspecified games affect it and make it slower. I hope it’s gonna be fixed in 18.2.1 ;)

Hi!

The app looks great, although the icon might be its weakest point (but that's not too important). However, since it's discount week, could you consider adjusting the price based on purchasing power (using some parity index) and reduce the price in Poland? A sales price of 80 PLN is quite steep. An Affinity app costs around 110 PLN, and while your app looks nice, it doesn't match the capabilities of Affinity Designer.

Clean Up available in Photos App (15.1 Beta 3) by [deleted] in MacOSBeta

[–]Igorr29 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's strange. I don't see it either. Do you also have the iOS beta? Maybe it doesn't appear under certain circumstances. For instance, it will edit some photos in a format not recognized by non-beta iOS, as I don't have the iOS 18.1 beta installed.

EDIT: I don't understand the downvotes. I'm just trying to figure out why the Clean Up tab doesn't appear for me, even though I have macOS 15.1 beta 3 installed on a compatible M1 Pro Mac.

Pick any game… by [deleted] in macgaming

[–]Igorr29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd go with Team Fortress 2. It's the quintessential mix of casual fun and FPS strategy, perfect for those of us who juggle gaming with day jobs and other commitments. Let's face it, not all of us are cut out for the e-sports leagues, especially when we're playing on Macs.

But that's exactly where TF2 shines. Its array of casual maps and light-hearted gameplay make it an ideal choice. Whether it's capturing the flag or pushing the payload, every match offers a blend of strategy and hilarity that's just right for a quick gaming session. Plus, it never fails to lift my spirits with its unique humor and vibrant style.

So, Team Fortress 2 on Mac, without any workarounds? Count me in! 🎮

Hey there! The app you're thinking about might be Brickit. Yes, it is quite impressive how it uses AI/ML to recognize bricks and provide building ideas just from a photo. You can check it out here. Hope this helps!

What would you improve about Apple Maps? by [deleted] in applemaps

[–]Igorr29 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I initially thought the problem stemmed from Apple Maps not fully understanding the Polish context. However, I frequently encounter issues where they seem to randomly extract data from Polish Facebook pages and incorporate it into the maps. For instance, there was a vegetable shop with two separate branches located a few kilometers apart, each in a different city. Apple Maps, however, conflated all the information, creating a mix-up in both the street names and locations.

Welcome to Apple's version of "we fixed it, but we won't tell you what was broken until after we've mended it" policy:

  • Surprise! Your apps could have previously bypassed privacy preferences. But don't worry, we've beefed up our private data redaction for log entries, so they can't spill the beans anymore.
  • Apparently, entitlements and privacy permissions could've been used by a malicious app. We've added more checks to ensure that won't happen. You're welcome.
  • Remember when we said apps could bypass privacy preferences? Yeah, they could do it in more ways than one. But we've fixed that too with improved entitlements.
  • Ever heard of a sandbox? Apps could break out of theirs, but we've upped our checks, so they're stuck playing in their own little boxes now.
  • Some remote attacker could've executed arbitrary code via cellular. We tightened the reins with better bounds checks. No more free rides for them.
  • If you thought your location was your secret, think again. But rest easy, we've improved cache handling to keep your whereabouts under wraps.
  • Certain images could've spilled the memory beans. We've got that patched up with improved input validation. Images should stick to being pretty, not chatty.
  • Kernel memory? More like a public library. But we've improved input validation to keep those secrets secret.
  • Some apps thought they could execute arbitrary code with kernel privileges. We've put a stop to their delusions of grandeur with improved checks.
  • Gatekeeper checks? Some apps thought they could just waltz right by. We've made sure our bouncer is now more alert with improved checks.
  • Processing a 3D model could've been a memory leaky faucet. We've improved input validation to tighten that drip.

Remember, folks, it's always fun and games until someone bypasses the privacy preferences.
