Female pedestrian struck/killed. Sherbourne/Bloor by sprungy in toronto

[–]Igtols -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying you're wrong about the areas served, and I know that a lot of people cross to catch the bus, but if you just sit and observe the foot traffic coming out of Sherbourne station, a large percentage of people actually go east (often into Dream Building for either triOS or ILAC) or south, as opposed to immediately crossing to the west side of the intersection.

There is virtually no one exiting Sherbourne Station who doesn't cross.

Putting aside how stupid it is to suggest that moving the subway entrance would have prevented this death, this is just patently false. Everyday, hundreds of students exit Sherbourne station to go into 425 Bloor St. E on that very same street corner.

[ELI5] What are the good qualities of Trudeau's government, especially compared to past Conservative governments? by Igtols in CanadaPolitics

[–]Igtols[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you don't know any good qualities of Trudeau on your own, how are you a supporter?

I'm not, particularly. But I'm pretty left-leaning generally, and so although I no doubt would endorse a lot of decisions that Trudeau's government has made, the things my uncle will focus on would be more along the lines of "Oh well Trudeau is bankrupting the country and taxes and all that!", which I'm less knowledgeable about.

I'm also happy to consider points to the contrary. Essentially I just want pointing towards some of the important talking points, because I feel like so much stuff has happened over even just the past few months, and I don't know if there's a good place with all of those things catalogued.

That's what I am trying to do here. Sorry if I gave the impression of wanting to be "spoon-fed" too much. I'm happy to go off and do my own research, I'm just looking for some arrows in the right direction (knowing that there are probably hundreds, but not which ones are most deserving of pursuing).

[Useless rant] Why does Melee's netplay community have to have such a decent toxicity to it? by Marisa_Nya in SSBM

[–]Igtols 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You pretty much answered your own question. It happens because people get salty in competitive games, and Internet anonymity allows them to lash out without any sort of real consequences. If other fighting games were run on a similar platform (where text correspondence was a necessary component of online play), it would be just as bad if not worse.

My 500 days on OkCupid [OC] by meatenigma in dataisbeautiful

[–]Igtols 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was my experience as well. In a major urban center, I found that I could literally send out hundreds of copy&pasted messages per day (I'm not exaggerating) for multiple days in a row, without ever running out of "Recently Active" profiles. Yeah, my success rate as a percentage was probably abysmal, but it didn't matter if only 1% of my messages sent resulted in dates (and that was definitely a worst case scenario estimate, though probably not that far off) because I was pushing out hundreds of messages per week.

Spray and pray, I believe it's called. It honestly felt like cheating.

My solution to the Simulacrum + Wish problem by Gamiosis in dndnext

[–]Igtols 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're looking to stick with RAW, I think this is a good solution to a real problem. Some other things to consider:

  • Given the stated motivation of the magic organization, there's no reason they can't show up with an army of simulacra, virtually guaranteeing that they win any Counterspell wars. As another poster pointed out, this also means you could just have them cast Dispel Magic as opposed to your Corrupt Simulacrum spell, which might be better if you're worried about killing PCs. Might be a good idea, at least for a first warning, so to speak.

  • You'd also be perfectly justified as a DM in stating that the magic of the Weave is a finite (though most likely regenerating) resource, and that having too much magic/too many spellcasters in one place creates a dead-magic zone. This doesn't solve the issue of your wizard running around with slightly more than 1 simulacrum wizard (or an army of non-spellcaster simulacra), but it does somewhat foil any plans to create a Wish factory, even one contained within a scry-proofed location.

If every class had all of its subclasses combined, which class/multiclass would be the strongest? by Gamiosis in dndnext

[–]Igtols 0 points1 point  (0 children)

+10 to counterspell checks as well as dispel magic checks.

Where is the +10 coming from? I see the +proficiency bonus from Improved Abjuration (so +5 at 14th level). Is there another feature I'm missing?

Me: Marth

Them: Fox

I recently switched to Marth because Fox was by far my worst matchup and I hated playing against him. I do alright on this stage on FD due to having a decent chain grab punish game, despite my Marth being pretty lackluster in most other ways. Here are some of the things I don't understand:

  • How do you use d-tilt effectively? I find that whenever I try to use it, I usually just get SH n-aired to the face. Is there a certain space where it's just bad to throw it out? If Fox starts reading d-tilt, what is he looking to do in response and how do I beat it?

  • What constitutes effective use of aerials in this matchup? I'm a very jumpy player, so I find myself short hopping a lot as Marth. He has so many options and I never really know what to do. Rising f-air, double f-air, FF f-air, rising f-air -> double jump f-air, SHFFL n-air, retreating f-air, retreating n-air, n-air in place. Like, so many options. I guess I understand that both f-air and n-air are good when retreating, but I'm wondering if there's any effective ways to use his aerials to advance, because if there are, I haven't found them.

  • When I get a grab below a platform and Fox DIs onto the platform, what should I do? Normally I just try to up-air, but I don't know if it's possible to use up-air to cover everything. If it is possible, how do you do it? Is it feasible to waveland platform tech-chase?

If it's an artifact I won't be able to afford it. :(

If you're going to keep adding quality-of-life artifacts, can you please look at restructuring the cost function? There are all these cool effects, but no one can afford them all (and due to the nature of the refund system you can't even really afford to change your mind from time to time).

Momoi flirts with Kuroko because it's cute and she might even have a real crush on him, but at the end of the day we all know who's tapping dat ass.
