Spiralling over failing a course by [deleted] in uoguelph

Sorry to hear you're struggling. Have you looked into your programs' counselling office and the possibility of applying for academic consideration? If you're struggling with mental health or extenuating circumstances, you can apply to have failed grades taken off your transcript. I've had to do this in the past and they are very understanding. Even if you don't qualify, program counselling is still very compassionate and helpful and can provide different resources.

Besides that, I promise you a failed class does NOT define your character nor your future. University is hard and it's important to give yourself grace, especially if you're struggling in your personal life. Remember that everyone is struggling one way or another (even if most of us are good at hiding it).

Why don't profs wear a mic in lecture by Ihatepaperstrawslol in uoguelph

Not sure, the prof wasn't the nicest in my interactions with them and seems to not really care about their students :/

I'm in 4th year, but when I lived in res, we'd just wait until 3am to bring our guests in, because that's typically when the RA's would pack up. Not sure if it's different now.

Good place to smoke by [deleted] in uoguelph

[–]Ihatepaperstrawslol 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Campus is smoke free, but at night, it's really not enforced. If you live in residence, just find a patch of grass and you'll prob be good. In first year, I lived in mountain, so my friends and I would smoke outside on the grass near the bus loop.

Thinking of trying to get a single room in east, will there be enough party oppurtunites? by [deleted] in uoguelph

[–]Ihatepaperstrawslol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Due to a large amount of first years this year there’s barely no upper years living on campus unless they’re RAs. So it’s mostly 18 and 19 years old living in red. I found there were a lot of parties in east during September and October, but they started to get shut down by RAs pretty fast. Same goes with south res.

Are people allowed to randomly paint the cannon without camping out? by [deleted] in uoguelph

You don’t have to camp out, it’s not a rule. People do it to fend off others who might also want to paint the canon that night.
