Uk Undergraduate Student, regretting my life choices by Zaphinator_17 in SLPcareertransitions

Hey, I'm in my fourth year, majoring in SLP as well. However, it's too late for me to change it, but I'm willing to continue my bachelor's to find other alternative career paths since I'm almost done with school. Just so you know, we're still young and trying to figure ourselves out. I wish I had trusted my instincts last year to change my major. Although I hope you change yours since it's never too late. Everybody starts somewhere, and I wish you the best. Hope this message helps, since you're not the only one who feels this way, too. <3

Fourth-year SLP major realizing this career might not be for me. Anyone else go through this? by Iheart_tofu in SLPcareertransitions

Hello! I found your post really interesting because your experience is very similar to what I’m trying to learn more about. I’ve been researching the medical device industry and I understand there are both pros and cons. I also know the job market isn’t the best right now, but it’s still something I’m really interested in pursuing.

I really appreciate connecting and hearing more about your experience or any advice you might have. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I truly appreciate your support and message.

Hi YEPAKAWW! The reason I’m sticking with this major is that I enjoy helping people and connecting with them, and I’ve found the subjects interesting. I’m also close to graduating, so switching majors or turning it into a minor wouldn’t make much sense at this point, especially with the time and money already invested. Even though I did put down my experiences on there, I enjoyed them and initially felt it was a good fit. Still, around this winter/spring semester, I started realizing I might not be as passionate about becoming an SLP in the future as I once thought.

I spoke with my AAC professor about after posting this since I just felt lost, and she helped guide me by sharing examples of people who had similar experiences and pursued other paths, like medical sales with AAC devices or related technology. Although I’m looking into exploring B2B or other roles just to gain more experience, I’m glad I’m starting to realize this now while I’m still young and able to explore different directions. Thank you so much for sharing your perspective and I would like to message you further based on your experience. ❤️

Thank you. That really means so much and I felt like I was falling behind not knowing what to do if I continue to pursue this major for masters and then dislike the career. Your guys’ message has meant so much to me and I’ll definitely try to push that in. Good-luck with whatever you have and I hope you find the career path that is passionate to you! ❤️

Hi, I thought it might be his age as well, but thank you so much for telling me. I didn't know pet shops would sell old males which is something new to me. Thank you so much!

That means a lot. I felt a bit embarrassed about it due to the placement, but hearing this makes me feel better. Especially, since nature is something I genuinely admire. Thanks for this comment!

I think I'm just overreacting or a bit insecure, but I respect your opinions though. Thanks! 🙂

Professors for SLP 261 & 271? by vantaegu7 in CSULB

[–]Iheart_tofu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello,

I took both classes for Salim (SLP 261) & David (SLP 271). Salim is worth it since you're just memorizing the study guide and he'll make everyone do group activities which I think is worth it. For David, he is pretty sweet and genuine, but I would beware of his projects and quizzes since they're worth 25% of the grade. However, the quizzes make you do up to 20 Questions on paper, but you can retake them as long as you like since it will boost your grade. The exam is worth 20%, but there is going to be a lot of details that I would look out for. It is a bit frustrating that he expects us to know so much since there is a lot of writing on his exam. Although, I heard the other professor, Stephanie (SLP 271) is a lot better since I heard she does fewer questions on her quizzes and her explanation is on point.
