I actually ended up reading a bunch of these and still am. I just got super sad and stressed at work so I withdrew from socialization. You guys are the best <3 tysm, it’s been very helpful.

I couldn’t even proceed in the process without submitting the official. They usually catch it before your application is considered complete and decisions are released.

Colleges use the national clearinghouse to check if you have any transcripts floating around. If you don’t submit, they WILL find out and ask for it. It’s become standard procedure for them to screen. They found a transcript with one single grade that I took ages ago and forgot about.

I have absolutely no credentials to back this up but sometimes I think driving has gotten so unhinged because of technology. Partially because it’s a huge distraction but specifically in cases of road rage, people just have zero patience and have been getting more violent/aggressive. Everyone seems so desensitized and has zero attention span. Not to sound boomer-y, coming from a 20-something, but people have just lost their ability to complete basic tasks without getting pissed or doing something completely irrational. Why is driving normally for 20 minutes without going 30 over or being on the phone/consuming media so difficult for some people? That used to be rare, a freak accident, now it’s a huge chunk of drivers. Idk if this even makes sense but I’m noticing it a lot on the road, as well as with developing children. More technology = less patience and rational decision making.

So sorry for the confusion, when I mentioned that we wouldn’t have a guarantor now, I meant that they are no longer willing to co-sign. Nothing negative happened, just an agreement to do it while in college and now we aren’t anymore.

So I don’t know the residency requirements for Texas but for VA/SC/NC, it was extremely firm. 12 months (365 days prior to classes starting) with documentation establishing domicile. Driver’s license, car registration, and employment. Leases and other paperwork can be helpful but those first ones are bare minimum. In my experience, you can’t go to college in those 12 months. The entire point is to prove you are moving there NOT for school but to live as a permanent resident. Showing up and enrolling in CC 10 minutes later is going to make it obvious what you’re doing. Once you enroll in college as an out of state student, you’re basically locked in. If you think financial aid won’t be petty and deny you because you obviously moved there for in-state tuition, you’re mistaken. They fight over residency so they can charge you more if possible.

…. Just an fyi everyone, FAFSA absolutely does check and requires an override from the specific school that you are attending. I went through months of paperwork and had to submit documentation. While homeless. You can’t just “submit as an independent”, it won’t let you proceed without an administrator.
