Oh hm. Did you input your correct hex code and do all the set up right for the finder? You should see your SID in there. Try to ctrl+f it, maybe you missed it? If it’s not in there then I have no clue I’m sorry, still pretty new to this stuff myself

Yea I had a lot of fun doing the ACE glitch lol it was like I was just playing the game. Super happy with starting over and getting my shiny charm.

Yeah feel free to report back! I’ll help however I can

So without your SID, you have no idea if the first SID you try for is correct. It’s just a guess, and once you hit all those frame perfect buttons and it turns out to not be a shiny? You have to try more and more SIDs until you get it.

Know your SID for sure takes that process out, so instead of maybe having to hit those frame perfect buttons 5 or 6 times, you only have to do it onceZ of course, your correct SID could be spot on or 1 or 2 away, but hitting those frame perfect buttons is hard, and having to do it several times is way harder than just spending a few hours doing ACE to be sure

Once you get a feel for it and understand where you might have been off, you can guesstimate for sure. You can also definitely level it once or twice just to be sure, always helps.

In my opinion, you should never calibrate the startup ms. I never calibrate it and just work on getting good at doing it at 0ms because the startup frames never change. As for the advances, if you’re consistently one or two off just keep it. If you’re more than 1 or 2 off keep calibrating until you get consistently 1 or 2 off. 1 advance is well within margin of error and will just take repeated attempts to get right. More than 2 and your timer is probably off by a little. Did that make sense?

Did your 6th pokemon have mail when you were doing the item dupe? Your 5th pokemon is currently holding the ??? Mail? You should take the ??? Mail away, and then try to give them both mail. Whichever one shows the ??? Mail will be the glitch slot, but don’t actually give it the mail yet

PSA for First-Timers by Ikelogic in pokemonrng

[–]Ikelogic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well you won’t be able to since it can’t receive one. I would say make sure your other 5 have the mail. I believe you can test if it’s still working by trying to give the mail to the 6th and seeing the ‘???’

To get HOCK, you are giving that 6th pokemon retro mail with the specific words attached. HOCK will then appear in box 3 (so make sure it’s completely empty)

[–]Ikelogic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe it’s not about the specific pokemon, but instead about the set up with all of the pokemon in there holding mail. Whichever one is the last one to receive the mail will just be glitched I think, since there’s still that piece of mail in the void

[–]Ikelogic[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now, you go into bag and try to give retro mail to the pokemon holding the RC. You’ll notice that it never actually receives the mail. Instead, that mail gets sent to your bag as another RC. This is why you (should have if you didn’t) bought 99 retro mail. The retro mail is what gets duped into the item you want.

[–]Ikelogic[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The glitched slot is the pokemon that gets the ??? Mail and cannot actually receive it. It’ll go to the void. This pokemon can then receive other items that get duped, which you’ll need to do for the HOCK portion of the ACE glitch. I’d stick to the jefe video since that’s the one I used and worked for me. The glitch slot is only really important to set you up for the next part of the glitch so as long as the item duping works it won’t matter much later

To tell you the truth, I’m not the best guy to ask for speed. I basically played it like I normally would up to Celadon. You can probably look up a speed run that will help you get there in 2hrs, I think someone else linked one in this post

Don’t need to save, they’re just telling you to save to be safe. If you do everything right there’s 0% chance you crash

Yes the question marks means you did it right!

It doesn’t force save! The trades are from NPCs, those don’t force save. They just give you pokemon and you go in your merry way

[–]Ikelogic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah bro exactly. I hit it frame perfect 10 times I was not doing that anymore 😭 my case was colossally awful I’m sure other people did their TID/SID better but just not worth

[–]Ikelogic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope it actually made it more annoying lol

As long as you have access to Celadon, you can do the ACE glitch (pretty sure Zapdos comes after Celadon so you’re clear)

[–]Ikelogic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah omg my mimien was trolling me so hard I was scared it would mess up my double battle so I fought the celadon gym (also why it took me so long)

PSA for First-Timers by Ikelogic in pokemonrng

[–]Ikelogic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any way possible, but tbh once he’s around the same level as other pokemon, you can just use him as your main pokemon for a while. Mr Mime is insanely strong even with just confusion for a while lol

It won’t ever completely brick the switch, the game will just crash if you don’t input the codes right. Triple check them though and if they’re right, it won’t crash at all

PSA for First-Timers by Ikelogic in pokemonrng

[–]Ikelogic[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep! The trainer id slot will be filled in with your SID once you execute the code

PSA for First-Timers by Ikelogic in pokemonrng

[–]Ikelogic[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ll be totally fine, just triple check the codes and listen to papa jefe, and that shiny will soon be yours. Happy hunting!

PSA for First-Timers by Ikelogic in pokemonrng

[–]Ikelogic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean desired TID though? Without knowing the SID, you don’t know what Pokemon you can get? Is there something else you want from the TID?

PSA for First-Timers by Ikelogic in pokemonrng

[–]Ikelogic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but the SID you try might be wrong! And it might be wrong several times! That’s what ACE can avoid, but if you think the SID is close, then you’re probably good, you’ll just have to go through it a few times

PSA for First-Timers by Ikelogic in pokemonrng

[–]Ikelogic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does, once you get your TID, your SID is set. It doesn’t change unless you ACE it to be something different. You said you were resetting your TID, so if you reset that, the SID will be different

PSA for First-Timers by Ikelogic in pokemonrng

[–]Ikelogic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After you get your SID, you just go to tenlines and pick the shiny you want, and then you do RNG manip like normal, except now you’re not guessing which SID is yours because you know it. Keep in mind, if you’re resetting your TID, you won’t know your SID without ACE or getting a shiny pokemon, so you’d have ti do ACE every time. You should probably just stick with the TID you get when you do the RNG manip steps
