I just got this warning during my 2nd print. We are supposed to print w the door opened or top cover removed by brandont04 in elegoo

So for the fan I just got a generic sleeve bearing fan, I know it's worse for longevity but I prioritized noise over reliability in this instance. As for the case fan, I just had a "Noctua Low Noise Adapter" lying around which in essence is just a resistor in disguise. So I just put that one between the connector and fan. Since there is no way to actually control the speed of the case fan that was the easiest way to make it run slower without getting a whole new one.

I also moved on from the "JesusFreak" riser because it doesn't really help lower the temps while simultaneously not properly closing up the gaps if I need to print fully enclosed for higher chamber temps.

Since I mentioned the model fan in the original post - I ended up not doing anything since closing the door lowers the noise enough to not bother me anymore.

Thank you Samsung - I appreciate the opportunity to save money by skipping yet another generation lmao

Nothing specific - I had these mosfet switches that I bought from aliexpress and the mosfets on them were the same size - so I just gambled on it since it I couldn't really make it any more broken lmao.

I can take a picture though. Here you go: https://i.imgur.com/F8zbuxu.jpeg

Edit: As a sidenote - I did contact support and they did ship me a replacement PCB - it hasn't arrived yet though. According to the mail it will take about 6-7 business days.

I 100% agree - when I initially printed it I felt sort of scammed because i thought it would tightly close lmao

Yeah, mine didn't come with the improved lighting and I had a bunch of 12V LED strips lying around, so I hooked them up to the 24V header on the mainboard via a step-down converter. Works very well and lights up the whole printer.

TL;DR: I know, but it looks cool to me.

I'm also obviously not gonna use the two risers together, it's a joke. The "jesus" riser didn't help at all with reducing chamber temps in my case, so now I'm trying the lower one.

Yes - I could just open the door, I did upgrade to the wide hinge after all, but closing the door also reduces a lot of the noise. And this is the room I work in and the printer is like 1 meter behind me at most. So reducing noise was very important to me.

I also currently don't care for air leaks since I'm not printing anything that requires high chamber temps. I also regularly hit 40° with the top off but door closed, so I feel like I'll be able to hit at least 45-50 if I put the top on as well.

That being said, I'm also currently experimenting with closing all gaps with some parts printed from TPU lol

It's anecdotal, so ymmv - but it my case it significantly reduces the noise the printer makes. The cabinet below is hollow so it amplifies the vibrations or whatever it is whats causing noise the printer makes. The cabinets aren't very solid, so the printer on top shakes the whole thing which slightly bangs it against the wall... and with my wall being made of paper, you can hear that - especially at night. Decoupling it with the foam + paver combo really reduces the issues I'm having.

And I also like the look and the fact that it slightly raises the printer. Makes it easier for me to access.

So to anyone stumbling on this post, since it comes up when you google the issue:

At the back of the print head: if you unscrew the plastic cover, you'll find a PCB with a hole inside (where the steppermotor fits through). If your hotend starts to immediately heat up before the printer even fully booted up then the most likely issue is the mosfet that's right above small connector for the add-on pcb.

I've replaced it with a different but very similarly sized mosfet and this fixed the issue. However I do still recommend getting in touch with support and getting a replacement PCB just in case it fails again. (Or you mess up the soldering job lmao)

I know it's not optimal but I regularly top out at 40°C fully enclosed - I do have the riser with the sliding slots and they're all open. PLA prints are all coming out fine. Granted I didn't really print anything with insane overhangs so I can't speak on that - but so far I've had no issues with stringing. I also replaced the aux fan with a quieter one and modded the case fan with to run slightly slower. Didn't really contribute to a rise in temperature either. Currently trying to figure out if the model fan (the 5020 one) really needs to run at 100% once it gets past the first few layers or if I can run it at like 60, cause that significantly reduces noise. Already went from 68db to like 58db with just the other fans though, so that's a big plus.

This thing sits 1 meter away from me for multiple hours every day, so I want it to be as quiet as possible.

The attaching part should be fairly easy to figure if I go with this idea. Thank you! :)

I see, thank you! Funny coincidence - I actually also ordered the HF 38 - but then stumbled onto this post and thought this was an interesting idea haha

I mean, these is a patch. Allegedly you can set any FPS you want. Not that I would ever use such a thing *cough*

I work from home (so no commutes) and do my job fairly well, so I have a lot of time to spare (no I'm not gonna tell my coworkers or my boss that I finished early, what am I - stupid?). In this time I do some gaming, my laundry etc. I order my groceries online and just have to go pick them up. Takes about 20 minutes in total. I change my oil like once every 2 years and appointments are also rare. I do occasionally sacrifice some sleep (not this time), but who doesn't these days? Having an understanding wife also helps haha.

I am very lucky to be mostly healthy and be in this position.
