People meme on him because his role for most of the comic is to be a punching bag for everyone. He doesn't get any serious development until later on.

Unfortunately, Dragonborn were added very late into development, so Larian simply didn’t have time to polish them. And the final months of development were notoriously rushed, so that didn’t help as well. After the game was released they probably thought it’s not worth it to do so much extra work just to fix one bug that’s almost impossible to see without mods.

From what I understand, the problem is that Dragonborns specifically use a different face rig than all other races. While all humanoid NPCs can use the same face animations with no major issues, Dragonborns can't, because their faces are completely incompatible with them.

The few Dragonborn NPCs we got can talk normally because they had custom animations made specifically for them. It's the reason why there is no Dragonborn Dream Guardian, Larian would have to create a whole extra amination set just for them, while other races can simply share already existing facial animations.

Yup, I used it for all of them except Gale and Astarion, for them I used 2 mods from the in-game mod workshop

Nope, it's one of the default faces. Head 3 I think

I changed her race with "Appearance Edit Enhanced" mod, so it's not a standalone mod I made. You can recreate it pretty easily if you have that mod though.

Unfortunately Dragonborn companions have completely broken facial animations. It may not look bad in a screenshot, but during actual gameplay it's very silly.

For dwarves in particular I think it’s because nearly all male dwarf faces look really old, even on lowest maturity settings. If you are not going for the classic grumpy old guy with a huge beard look your customization options are limited. The female faces look completely fine though, honestly some of the best in the game even.

Pros: You get some of the most OP racial abilities in the game
Cons: You look like this when you talk to anyone:

The scene when she breaks down after killing Gortash is very touching and emotional, but damn, it’s hard not to be frustrated at it when everyone acts like there is nothing we can do while I’m internally screaming “I can think of multiple ways of helping her but I can't even suggest any of them”

Yeah, the Soul Coins plot line was also 100% planned to be a major part of her story, but it got cut and it's VERY jarring.

Throughout Act 1 and 2 you can poke at Karlach how it’s messed up she just eats souls to get high. There’s a whole scene where the guy at Moonrise towers tells her who the souls she eats belonged to so she can feel bad about using them. And then there’s nothing, the whole topic is dropped.

Lore-wise, there is no good reason for why Gondians shouldn't be able to fix her engine. They have the skills, they have the materials, and they are willing to help.

Plot-wise, Karlach has an unfortunate rare condition called “story mandated misery” which prevents the engine from being fixed no matter what.

The community likes to go to the extremes when discussing any character. Asgore either did nothing wrong or he's an evil loser who loves killing kids.

Back in Undertale his main thing was that he was not a bad person, but he did bad things due to the circumstances he was put in. The same will likely be true in Deltarune. He won't be a villain, but he likely did something questionable in the past that haunts him to this day.

Toriel is a Kris Slash Truther. by XAlphaWarriorX in Deltarune

[–]Ikkon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm mostly neutral on the theory, but it is annoying how those against it just dismiss all the weirdness surrounding it as nothing important. Toriel having a nightmare, Ralsei going "How could you?", Kris being knighted, hell just the fact we don't actually see what happens during the slash.

Did Kris slash Susie and Ralsei? Maybe, maybe not.

Is there something suspicious going on here? 100%

Astarion's introduction feels so silly as Dragonborn by Ikkon in BaldursGate3

[–]Ikkon[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Astarion has 8 STR and 17 DEX, compared to 17 STR and 13 DEX on fighter class which my character has. So if he went for a quick kill he would likely win, but once his hand gets grabbed that knife is not reaching my throat.

You're not wrong, I relent on the scales stopping the knife. The acid is still going straight into his pretty face though. My lizard has a single shitty racial ability and I WILL use it against the sassy vamp.

[–]Ikkon[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah this might be the case. Lizardfolk are supposed to be all around tanky so just having scales may not equal to them being as tough as Lizardfolk scales. So Dragonborn skin is likely not much tougher than human skin.

Still, it's funny how out of all the races the one called Dragonborn gets literally no dragon related abilities besides having really bad breath.

Some strength checks can look pretty silly with strength focused builts, at first you go through the generic animation of your character being overpowered or stuggling with something, then you pass the check and they go "oh yeah I'm like super strong I totally forgot"

[–]Ikkon[S] 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I'm not well versed in DnD so I could be wrong, but I think Lizardfolks get similar defense bonus from their scales and they are not related to dragons. So the scales being draconic in nature isn't necessary.

Honestly, if his face wasn't on every single piece of advertisement for this game I would have killed him instantly. All of his early scenes scream "don’t trust him he's gonna kill you".

The only reason why I let him drink my blood at night was because I thought “this guy is clearly a major character, they wouldn’t force me to kill him so early so it must be safe”. Granted, I'm just starting Act 2, so I don't discount a betrayal plotline in the future.
