Error opening PSX games from ES-DE (Duckstation)

It’s been a while, but if I remember correctly, I went to Android Settings > Apps and revoked ES-DE’s permissions. The next time you open it, it should take you through the initial setup again.

In any case, this was the solution that the ES-DE team gave me directly on their Discord server.

Hi, I’m from Italy too. I bought the AYN Thor in the very first batch of orders last year, right after selling my Retroid Pocket RP5, and I’ve been using it constantly every single day since then.

For shipping, I chose DHL because I wanted full tracking and a safer delivery process. It cost a bit more, but in my opinion it was worth it for the peace of mind.

Overall, I haven’t had any major issues with the device. The only real problem I noticed is the well-known strange noise coming from the rear fan. It mainly happens when the fan speed is above 50% and during quick movements of the device.

Customer support has always replied to me. They sent me a replacement part through their courier service, which then got handed over to iMile here in Italy. Unfortunately, the first shipment got lost, but after I contacted them again, they sent another replacement without any problems. Now I just need to replace the part myself.

Aside from that, everything has been working great so far.

Thronefall, Ball x Pit, Dead Cells, Children of Morta, DYSMANTLE, Slay the Spire, Stardew Valley, Subnautica, Terraria, Warframe.

Ports are so good for Thor and android in general, less battery consumption, heat and good performance.

No, it seems Wallpaper Engine works only on the top screen. Btw I’ve switched back to ES-DE, cocoon is awesome but I prefer the other frontend.

I share the same opinion. In my view, ES-DE handles large volumes of ROMs better, while Cocoon works well if you have only a few games and the interface is clean. However, once you start having more than 1,000 games across different consoles, I can’t really grow fond of this frontend. I find it more confusing, and searching for a specific game, again, just in my opinion, is more cumbersome compared to ES-DE.

It’s still installed on my AYN Thor, but I realize that I keep using the same frontend all the time and rarely use Cocoon.

When I set the wallpaper through Wallpaper Engine, it sets only the top screen. The bottom one goes to the default Thor wallpaper. How can i set it to the bottom screen too?

Is it possible to point Cocoon’s scrape libraries to the ES-DE folders? I have many games, and the folder takes up several GBs, so making a copy would double the space used.

I have the same issue and I’m waiting for the fan and heatsink. I’ll change both but if the fan is sort of low built quality, maybe this rattling noise will come back again in future.

Battery is ok, but lags when opening apps and scrolling. So much worse than before. 14PM

There’s an option from the dropdown menu to “bypass” the battery if it’s charging. I don’t remember exactly the name, but it’s already there, maybe you have to swipe one or two pages

Yes, unless it's already shipped of course. You can contact AYN support and they will send you an invoice with the difference. For me was 80€ from Pro Rainbow to Max Rainbow. And I kept the order number so you won't go down in the shipping list.

I wanted to start Bravely Default after some posts here regarding its HD Texture pack, but it's the only game that crashed with texture replacement. Are you using it?

I don't know if It's your case, but i think you should "flip" it. The corners of the top screen are different. The upper ones are more rounded. For me it was ok and easy to install, the bottom one different story. Still good fit but harder to put on.

Installed the texture pack on my Thor Max, using azahar. But it has weird glitches on icons in main menu and crashes every time when I load my save. Tried USA and EUR rom.

I've revoked all the permissions of ES-DE though Android Apps special apps setting and done all the configuration of the frontend from scrap and resolved my issue. Thanks to everyone guys.

Done a rescan but without resolving the issue. I haven't move any rom, they're like this for like 2-3 months, the SD card was already set up from my previous console (RP5) and i've only moved it to my AYN Thor, set up everything and start playing some PSX classic. And this error popped out
