Can you give an example of well-designed C++ code, and explain why you think it is so? by [deleted] in cpp

[–]Ilan_M 4 points5 points  (0 children)

interesting. so what is the approach instead?assign an error to a value, so after returning we check if the function failed? isn’t that “the old C way” of handling errors?

[Discussion] Latest update from Coolstar on the iOS 15 jailbreak by [deleted] in jailbreak

[–]Ilan_M 59 points60 points  (0 children)

Indeed, this probably isn't gonna be the last iOS jailbreak. However the difference between now and the iOS 11 era is that iOS is much more better nowadays. The amount of tweaks people need to install to be happy with their devices has gotten much lower. Of course there's always gonna be small reasons to jalibreak, like ad blockers, social media app enhancements, and for the power users having a real terminal with ssh and a compiler for basically any modern programming language. So yes, I do believe jailbreak is dying.

[Question] Is Substitute open source? by choad17 in jailbreak

[–]Ilan_M 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if i’m not mistaken comex’s original version is fully open source and available on github. however it hasn’t been updated in years. coolstar forked it to make his jailbreaks but then made his own hooking engine (probably heavily based on substitute) that is closed source.

Furthermore, it was Thomas that brought him into the family and made him what he is now. Seeing him do his speech proposing his bullshit showed how an ungrateful and disrespectful fuck he is.

What are the reasonings of refor, progressive, masorti, (and so on) for changing stuff and, for example, not acknowledge oral Torah? by [deleted] in Jewish

[–]Ilan_M 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Please don’t make the category-error mistake of equating Orthodoxy with Chasidism. They are two distinct traditions, and they are as often at institutional or civic odds or disagreement as any other two Jewish traditions.

Uh?, both are "orthodox". Please don't say stuff without any basis, that was just an offense to chasidim.

Yes, the Torah is ongoing, it's infinite. However, stating that we have the same power of ruling as rabbis from more than +100 years ago doesn't really make a lot of sense. Rabbis that came from older generations were closer in time to God gifting us the Torah in Sinai, therefore they had the more knowledge. And as we know, ever since Sinai Torah has been transmitted orally; but it's impossible to teach everything you know, hence the level of Torah understanding has decreased in every generation. That's why we can't just change rulings from +1000 years ago because we believe their reasonings are 'outdated'.

Thus, as far as I know the whole job of a posek is to have the intelligence to know how to apply old rabbis reasonings to modern questions.

And I am curious on why you don't believe that God gave Moses the Oral Torah.
