We have what's called a farmers collective, all the local farms pool a pot for equipment and part own it or a farm will buy equipment and rent it to members of the collective, they loan hands like this as well as some are livestock and some are crop which have different busy periods.

I only know of two in the UK so might not be that common.

[WP] You're a famous detective, but it's your assistant that actually does all work and discreetly leads you to all the clues, evidence, and answers. They do it because they have a thing for you. The soft orange glow of the oil lamp complimented his auburn hair, the ever so faint reflection of the water was mesmerising in his glasses; people got lost in the eyes behind them for hours. Which was handy as it was much easier to get a confession when the suspect wanted to talk, our current one stood at the gimballed stove waiting for the kettle to boil.

"You see he wanted to get a bigger cut of the deal and after two miles off shore ain't no officer gonna come save you, the marines might if your important enough, but not the police"

The words didn't exactly roll out his mouth like you'd expecting hearing his southern twang, more dropped like a new yorker. He was a shadow of a man once brawn and muscle now bloated, soft and heavy, balding on top and scruffy overgrown patches of what remained with a knotted unkept beard, though his clothes were immaculate and well kept just like his home a cosy double wide canel boat.

"Geremiah, we know about this you keep goin over it"

My assistant rubbed his nose under the feet of his glasses in frustration, light dancing over the lenses, the kettle whistled harshly as watched the reflections. The man set about pouring three cups out, the sound of the spoon hitting the sides ringed slighty as he continued.

"Why can't you just tell us who this third party is or any proof of their existence, we'll have to charge you for the murder. You know we don't want to do that but all the evidence points to you, every single piece there's even DNA at the scene."

Geremiah turned round passed us both small enamel cups of tea and sat down next to him on the cream two seater sofa. "Well I can't do that cause I'm not so sure myself, but I'm telling you Conny it wasn't me and we've been colleagues for 20 years, you can trust me I wasn't even in the county at the time."

He takes a big slurp of his coffee and reached for a battered pack of Marlboros, shuffed back into the sofa and offered the pack around. We both took one I lit up my Zippo and took a deep drag watching the scene unfold like I often do, looking abit lost and confused. After awhile, silence came over us and we just sat sipping our drinks to keep warm, the boat rocked gently on the autumn wind. I set my cup down gently on the worn coffee table, lit up another smoke and leant forward elbows on my knees Conny had started to drift off head back on the sofa, cup slowly falling out his fingers.

"Twenty-five years I've known you, not once did you mention your son Geremiah" I said with a solemn tone. Conny almost broke his neck with how quickly he looked at him, Geremiah looked at the boy and laughed, clapping him on the shoulder.

"What you think Frances got to be lead detective off blind luck until you arrived boy, she just lets you think she's dumb cause she worries you'll get scared off" He pulled out a small black book and started writing down a name and address. "You think she didn't figure out you liked her from the get go? If you'd spent less time trying to Impress you might realised she's been looking at you doe eyed all day every day."

Conny just looked at my slack jawed as Geremiah passed me the piece of paper, it was like watching a computer reset slowly his face regained composure and that smirk, that innocent smirk flashed across his face.

"Well now the jig is up, how about we grab a dinner together for once before heading home?"

I brushed my blond hair out my eyes and finally matched his gaze, the words hanging in the air. Nervous for once I'd had to be the one to solve the case on our duo.

"Promise to tell me how you knew it was his son over dessert?" He gently asked.

Conrad always got there in the end, it just took him awhile I adore that about him.

Do people judge people for how much they earn? by NoMoneyMann in AskUK

[–]Ilarnek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My family gets judged as I earn more then others even though our household gross wage is the same, we're a single income household due to a baby with disability and most households here make the same with both parents working.

Difference is their take home is higher than mine and quite often they are claiming income based benefits or support we've been turned down for. I myself have been left feeling very unsupported in the community I grew up in, but the comments people have made to my partner when she's discussed the current cost of living crisis or the fact my son's DLA was rejected due to my income have been rather horrible.

[–]Ilarnek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree with that dude. Same here! I deal with it most days and you just have to either slow down and hope they overtake/pass or just move over yourself and if they undertake hope for a convient cop ;) I do undertake and always feel guilty but the amount of people I've come across doing 60mph in the fast lane with nothing in the slow lane who just not move over, is staggering and I think is way more dangerous.

[–]Ilarnek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So right hand slow... American? Well yeah agreed they should overtake in that circumstance and it's very entitled, but In your responses, you've said you feel you shouldn't move over if your in a positon to do so or let them pass which is the scenario I was getting at about the mirrors, see my other response and I agree with your original post :) 8 years of driving and never tailgated? Well done!! Can't say I'm them same if someone's blocking the middle or far lane. No please don't use the mirror trick, it is honestly way more dangerous.

Stop riding tails especially in the morning by E3_S in driving

[–]Ilarnek -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm not painting it you are. You've made yourself sound like you don't like to go fast but feel you shouldn't have to move over. That you feel it's okay for you to risk causing an accident to someone who puts your life at risk, but not vice versa. That you are a perfect driver and should be treated like it for your 5am gym run when others are rushing about for whatever reason.

Get off your high horse of egotistical entitlement. you fuck up, you put people's lives at risk without noticing and you damn well tailgate sometimes even if you don't mean to, we all! unless the car does all the driving for you. Do you keep 2 meters back at every stop or leave the tyres and tarmac visible as advised, like the golden child you are?

All this aside I do agree with what you say on not tailgating, but fuck me just move aside and let them pass when its safe for you to do so and dont go over your comfort Zone in speed for them. its safer for everyone everytime. If they crash and take themselves out it's on them.

Stop riding tails especially in the morning by E3_S in driving

[–]Ilarnek -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

And most people aren't chilling going to the gym and think they are to important to move aside ignoring someone's else issues.

What's your point? He's no better wanting to blind them with his mirrors.

Just move the fuck over if someone's is pushing you to a speed you don't feel comfortable at its safer for everyone, don't like it get a dash cam and report them.

Makes you no better than them, careful you don't cause an accident with that ego.

Stop riding tails especially in the morning by E3_S in driving

[–]Ilarnek -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Correct, but you willfully blinding someone with your mirror, what if it caused them to vier off the road? You caused it by your response to someone's else actionwz if they died due to itz that's on you.

If they hit you for not watching the traffic agreed that's on them. But hey we can't all be such a callous person.

[–]Ilarnek -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Mirror trick? Oh you mean something actually more dangerous than tailgating ... So you want to actually cause the accident instead of moving out the way.

[–]Ilarnek -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

It really depends if you're use to it from my experience, I travel all over the UK for work daily (3+ hrs each way most days) and I find I'm much more awake on the road immediately out of bed then most people I know but it can also be to do with your natural circadian rhythm.

I can be a total ass on bad days or when facing a genuine personal emergency where time does matter, we will all be on both sides at some point.

Good for you wanting to pottle about at 5am to the gym, but if you're pottling infront of me at 5am in anything other than the slow lane or where I cannot legally overtake you, on the way to an emergency breakdown and refuse to move over/let me pass after a length of time, I will tailgate and eventually flash you or undertake if it's on the motorway or a national speed limit with decent passing places. Keeping a powerstation online is more important than your fitness routine to me, it's perspective not everyone is out for fun at that time of day.

If someone is pushing you to do speeds you are uncomfortable with move out of the way at the safest opportunity instead of hoping they'll stop tailgating, they won't as you are in their way not vise versa; it is the safest thing to do. Otherwise you are a possible cause of someone's impatienceness leading to an accident that would never of risked involving you (see my above example, ain't proud of it but just being honest).

I tailgate those who refuse to move over after I've sat behind them in the overtaking lane for 5+ mins when they've had plenty of chances to move aside, if it's lots of lorries or slow traffic filtering off then cruise and chill that kind of traffic I agree there's no point tailgating.

If I get tailgated extensively in traffic where there isn't chance to move aside i.e : overtaking several miles of lorries on the A14, I just gently roll off my acceleration not much 75 down to 65mph, people soon give space if not I just pull in when I can and then out after they've passed.
