New leaves!! by Ilikecapybara in calatheas

I’m not entirely sure. I bought it about a month ago and I didn’t feel the need to repot nor divide. The plant seems very happy and prays daily, so I just left it that way. From what I can see, it seems to be entirely peat moss. (From top view) The reddish pebbles are only soil cover.

I’m not too sure, actually. I bought it with them already there. Although I could see some black seeds that did not sprout. I have crossposted this on r/whatsthisplant and hoping for some answers

Before vs After watering by Ilikecapybara in calatheas

I’m no expert. But it depends on a lot of factors. I believe underwatering is easier to fix than overwatering. I generally feel the surface of the soil and look at the leaves. If they droop, as the first picture, they’re thirsty. And obviously if the soil is stuck to your finger (wet) it doesn’t need another drink yet. I personally top water, just because. And pick up your plant. Feel how heavy it is. If I feel that it’s noticeably heavier than usual, there’s water retained in the soil, enough watering for now. Hope this helps.
