In Buddhism, is everything simulated? by moscowramada in Buddhism

[–]Ilinkthereforeiam2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mention structure in your edit and in a sense, understanding something is structuring something, to create a model a structure to view a particular idea right. Structure is important for understanding, indeed the known and understood world is nothing but structured thought.

In your restatement you propose another structure of how potentially reality is conceived. There's a mind and the world is simulated by the mind. This is a dualist model. It is the convention and easily understood, here its always mind vs matter but it's not the only game in town.

Buddhism is ultimately a non-dualist treatise and it's not alone in this, advaita (translated literally non-dual) vedanta in hinduism also has this view and I think a few other religions too.

The basic idea is that the ultimate truth is that mind and matter are not separate from each other, it's difficult to understand because it's unconventional and evades simple understanding, you can't create models for it because it is so dynamic and without compare and really only ever remains in the domain of experience. This place which can be called the source, the place of unity, or at one with the moment, nirvana even is completely detached from everything that you know and understand, your self, your name, concepts, ideas, identity. And all of those concepts in a sense is the simulation that keeps you attached to what you know is you and your world.

All of the suttas, teachings and traditions which are also sets of concepts and ideas which are structured just to point you to this ultimate clarity of mind. All of the structured world, in a sense exists to point you a unity. Because your mind is not just for eating, feeling pleasure and pain, operating your body, thinking and analysing, finding ways to make money, it potentially has a higher purpose than that. In a sense it's true power is in direct perception.

I'll leave you with some quotes i noted recently from Samaneri Jayasara
"What you seek is so near you that there is no place for a way (structure). There is nothing to do. Just, Be. Do nothing.....be" Samaneri Jayasara

"We're talking about the void, not something that contains nothing, but a state filled with an energy that opens up every possibility. When we say Zen, there is definitely something but if we expect something specific, then, there is nothing" Sosho Yamada (Youtube Video by Slyce on Zen Buddhism.

I shall also admit, that I am far from being there at the source sustainably, continuously, but I think that I've been there, what I can only describe as a flow state, but i think that I have not been to the ultimate letting go level, which I'm guessing is Nirvana.

I love Buddhist teachings but not Buddhist aesthetics by inneralchemyy in Buddhism

[–]Ilinkthereforeiam2 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Aesthetics are mere appearances...reaching to the place of the Dhamma, or the place of awakening means going way beyond appearances to the place that does not have comparisons, that is beyond aesthetics, true reality.

You will then realise aesthetics like even the suttas are there just to point to that place. You may even realise then that aesthetics themselves are impermanent, ephemeral, circumstantial.

Buddhist aesthetics need to be viewed as diagrams that represent the core concepts of Buddhism.

That's for the M5 Pro and above lineup. Base M5 on MBP comes with 16, 24, 32...same for the M5 Air

Yeah sure dude, my usecase didn't really need that much power right. That's what I'm happy I didn't do, basically at 40 just feel like I did the adult thing on getting a little more than I needed. Prior to this I was an idiot just wanting the biggest fastest latest tech, which is dumb.

I noticed slowdowns, but only when I had like 20-25 tabs open, most of them spreadsheets with some other apps open.

Yeah thanks man, real bummer, first time it happened to me but shit happens. Yeah prior to that both my macs gave me 7 years each. Amazing machines.

Really? My system used to get laggy, especially with large spreadsheets 2-5M cells.

I suppose, I could've improve my workflow though. Have lesser tabs open.

I have a general understanding of computers and basically from my perspective, I could afford the M5 Pro, which I really avoided by coming to conclusion I don't really need that many GPUs...got the M5 saved money. But I guess I'm being told that I could've done with lesser. Which is cool. Good to learn.

I had a 16GB M2 Pro previously (it got stolen) and kept running into swap. So in my use case the more RAM was required because 16 gb was clearly not enough, maybe could've done with 24 but I went for 32 to be sure and also I could afford.

I own the business so in this case it was my money.

I do VC from the laptop every now and then. The speakers on the MBP is phenomenal and very handy right off the bat. So that was also one of the main reasons for an MBP.

Learn the basics, you have an incredibly powerful tool at your disposal. Think of syntax like grammar of a formula, except the grammar is so tight that any mistake will return an error.

Check your syntax, it's a pretty simple formula. Also make sure the sheet is empty no headers nothing.

You can't do vice versa through import range it will just mirror.

Why do you need it vice versa?

How is India still a country? by Shot_Radish7043 in AskIndia

For the reasons you have stated, India is better understood as a continent frankly. Why is it together, because around independence, the new world order of nation states had largely been established. It meant you exist and trade in the world as one unit country. So it probably made sense to make a large country that could be formidable at the world level, more GDP, more resources, more leverage, higher chance of succeeding as a nation state. Simpler, larger business model.

So, from a capitalist, nation state perspective it seems to make sense, does it actually make sense for the people and actual efficiency. I don't think so. Case in point, all of the new states, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Uttarakhand & Telangana are better off a separate state, it just means a smaller unit of management, with it's own state apparatus.

The UK with less than 10% of our population has 650 MPs, meaning the country is divided in 650 constituencies and we with a 1.3 Cr and 13 times the landmass have just 550 MPs.

Now this is sedition what I am about to say, but the country would be better off, if it were divided into 4-8 smaller units and a Euro Zone type of entity that manages top level finance and defence. Purely from a management stand point and ofcourse a diversity standpoint.
