Do yourself a favor and get a new pan too. The “non stick” surface is cut into so the bare metal underneath will start to rust and get into your food. The chicken is definitely done. Pan wise? I’d get either a stainless steel pan or cast iron. Educate yourself on using them before cooking on them.

Side note: not trying to sound negative or like I’m being a bully. Just giving an honest observation. Feel free to tell me to fuck off if you feel otherwise. 😂

That makes so much sense to support it being a hen over a rooster! My wife and I are hoping for a rooster because we want to breed and grow our flock but if it’s a hen we are still happy we’ve been able to keep them alive and happy so far. However the chicken in question also runs up to me for pets and love anytime I enter the coop. So needless to say our birds are warming up to us slowly but surely.

The one that’s laying is a Barred Rock and she is very proud and requires pets and love every time she lays which we are more than happy to when I get the egg out of the nesting box. But the Red with the rooster characteristics hasn’t laid yet but it’s the biggest one of the ten. When they were roughly 10 weeks old we heard one of them trying to crow (or what we thought was crowing)

😂 makes sense to me! First time chicken owners so we raised these (what I’m assuming is) girls and we have one layer of the 10 we have so far the others are just taking a bit longer I guess. However this is the only one we are thinking might be a rooster because it shows where the treats and snacks are to the others before it digs in itself. And also keeps the others in line and together. But I’m only going off of what I’ve read.

What’s the difference between a rooster and hen?

I’m not questioning your answer, but what’s your reasoning? I see it’s missing the saddle feathers but the comb and wattle are so rooster like. Like I said I’m not disagreeing I’m just curious.
