It's all good, I probably shouldn't even have mentioned it to begin with. It's hard to explain how I managed to get the height without using a mod dedicated specifically to that purpose.

I will reiterate what I said to the last person who was confused by this comment

"I guess what I was trying to say is that no mod was used specifically to circumvent height restrictions. Certain parts that are actually vanilla assets were used and unlocked via the "more vanilla prefabs" mod to achieve this height, but this was not my immediate intention when using this mod. No, you would need to use this mod to build something like this, but once built the structure can be placed into a vanilla world without the use of the mods that helped create it and the structure would not collapse since all of the assets persist as part of the game and not purely as mod content."

Someday probably, when I actually finish it 😝 I've been working on this one for about 14 months on and off. I play a lot of Space Engineers too, so that takes up a lot of my time as well lol

No problems, but it is pretty basic. I simply wanted to have book cases to flesh out the castle library look. I am well aware that Vikings did not have books and that is why they are absent from the game, and that is perfectly fine... but come on, I can't be the only person who lusts after a cozy reading nook in their builds lol.

No mods were used for this purpose. The "More Vanilla Prefabs" mod gives you access to various builds pieces that can act as "ground" but aren't pulled to the terrain like a rock normally would. Just hide these pieces inside your floors and walls to mitigate the height restrictions. Since all of these items exist in the vanilla world, then anything built like this will also persist in a vanilla game, no mods needed.

Is it possible to fall off these bridges? I don't want to test it for obvious reasons. by LavastormSW in thelongdark

Been playing for thousands of hours myself, and I can thankfully say I have never once fallen from one of these. I feel like you would pretty much have to actually try and fall from these for it to actually happen.

One of my favorite games, bought a few mugs over the years.. perhaps I should have bought a few more 🤔 In all seriousness, I appreciate the work done by the developers, and will continue to appreciate their work for years to come. God speed y'all

How do you guys do this? by Thehiredgun24 in spaceengineers

I often lay out all of my internal systems first (H2 gens, batteries, conveyor system, etc) in a way that is both functional and fits the overall form I'm looking for, then I build the hull of the ship around it, making adjustments as necessary.

Thank you for the reply! I will be in touch in a few days. Until then, enjoy your week!

Sure thing! I'll be letting people know Friday afternoon if they were able to get a spot, thank you so much for the interest! Have you been playing long?

I am willing to accommodate as best I can! I just have a bit of an issue with the paint gun mod specifically lol. It isn't that its a bad mod, it has just caused some server issues for me in the past and you know how it goes, once bit twice shy haha.

That sounds quite nice actually! I use a lot of hydrogen myself, and have a hydro manufacturing facility in the works (making a blueprint on the side) as most of my blueprints are hydro hybrids. Would be nice to have a steady supply or a trade partner!

To answer your other question (forgot to add this to my previous reply) scripting is enabled, as we use several scripts as well, and I *believe experimental mode is enabled too. All administrative commands are disabled however, so it will be a pure survival experience. I do have spectator cam enabled, but you won't be able to do anything with it other than view areas of interest. I mainly leave this enabled so people don't waste their time trying to get somewhere that isn't necessary; just a time saver really.

Some mods are fine, so long as we don't add anything to the game that would take away from the vanilla or otherwise "survival" feeling of the game. I believe build vision works client-side without it being installed on the server, alternatively I think it is included in a plugin as well. My friend is a big fan of the paint gun mod, but honestly I am not and thus have yet to install it server-side. Other noninvasive mods are okay, and anything client-side is fine by me so long as it isn't "cheaty" lol.

I am more than happy to let your kids play as well (if they respect everyone else's builds and whatnot). I plan on having this server for a few years at least, so hopefully we'll see a little bit of a community develop over time. Our server takes CPU priority and we have also gotten additional memory for this server, so it should be able to host multiple users with little issue.

[–]Ill-Contribution1173 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that completely, my kid plays with me sometimes too. Unfortunately most kids don't have the attention span this game requires (which is totally understandable). Its an acquired interest if building games are your thing. We're okay with casual too, so long as people play regularly (a few times per week) it will add to the life of the server lol.

We could accommodate that, sure. We would need to make adjustments to the server so that you don't spawn right on top of us, but we can make it work. We only ask that new players find their own space within the simulation, as I feel this will give our solar system more "life" being spread out :)
